Or at least that's what this article suggests John Fox did yesterday with Tebow: http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/Tim-Tebow-John-Fox-sabotage-Denver-Broncos-in-loss-to-Detroit-Lions-103011 Granted Tebow made a couple of bad throws to be sure but my son and I watched the game and both of us thought the playcalling and types of pass plays called obviously were not suited to Tim's success and maybe it was on purpose. I wonder how John Elway views it?
I have had the feeling that the existing Bronco management doesn't want Tebow as QB. I felt Elway made that pretty clear prior to the season. By coming back and beating Miami Tebow may have spoiled Elway's plan for getting Luck in the draft. Whatever, Tebow is a class act and always has been. I am hoping he will be successful in the NFL, but if not he will continue to be a winner in life. GB
This is PRO football. They do not tank games or intentionally sabotage themselves to make a player look bad. John Fox depends on Ws.
Then John Fox doesn't know much about Tebow and/or is a bad game planner then. The first series looked like a Tebow made offense and then they went to deep throws and slow developing pass plays.......not very effective against the hard charging Lion DL.
If you're going to call out an NFL franchise for tanking games you'd better be ready to have more than Jesus in your pocket. There's 2 ways a team tanks games.. gambling or draft position. Nothing else could or would make sense. These guys get paid to win... Period. When they lose, they lose money. This isn't the SEC with vendettas and crazy family drama carried out over state lines. This is business.
Because someone wrote an article doesn't validate it. If that's the case, I can go back and recite article after article written by Wentzel over the past several years that justifies blowing up the BCS and tearing down the corrupt bowl system. There's far more facts in his articles than there was that speculative piece cited here.
Well.....I'll just leave it as a curiously called game by Fox......one that indicates he doesn't know or value the player's unique skills very well and more importantly his limitations.
Was listening to ESPN radio this morning, and the consensus was that as much of a competitor as Tebow is, he is void of 2 passes critical to NFL QB's....(1) Over the LB and under the Safety (2) The long out pattern. They also said that they've pretty much tailored their (Denver) offense to be very similar to what Tebow did at UF (over 80% shotgun snaps), but it's still not working. Granted he's not had much time under center, but like they said on the radio, Andrew Luck could immediately come in and play QB in the NFL. Some have it, some don't.
I remember Terry Bradshaw his first couple of years, He was painful to watch. They used to joke that not only could he not read defenses, he couldn't read. Cosell called him L'il Abner. He turned out OK.
Good point George. However one difference that I see is that Pittsburg was behind Bradshaw and I don't see that in Denver. Unfortunately I don't see the coach or Elway the President behind Tebow. I think they would as soon he go away. Only time will tell if he gets the backing to succeed.
Another big difference was that Bradshaw played in a Pro Style offense and threw the ball a lot as a collegian.
He's not feeling the love from anyone these days.... http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ms-silver_morning_rush_tebow_struggles_103111
Yes....yes...he did. But I agree with Bill in that I don't think Bronco management wants Tebow on the roster. He should come back up Freeman here in the Bay. He could be quite a complement at Qb here.
What talents are we talking about? That he can run? So could McNabb. So does Vick. Problem is that both of the aforementioned can throw the passes expected of a NFL QB. The talking head experts already pointed out what he can't do, The powers that be in Denver cater a game plan to suit his abilities (or lack of) and it ain't working. You either got it, or you don't. It's the NFL which stands for NOT FOR LONG if you ain't got it.
Every once in awhile the NFL drafts someone in the first round that just leaves me speechless, because I wouldn't have drafted the guy on any round, let alone the first. Tim Tebow is one of those. He's the Terry Baker of his time...
