Very exciting week, and the ranks of the undefeated were culled just a little.

    1. Game of the Week no doubt was USC/Standford. If any body had any doubts that the Cardinals were a great team, and Oliver Luck the best QB in college football it was put to rest. Luck did everything, super accurated throwing long or short and not afraid to take the ball down and run with a physical style. I don't know if they'll finish undefeated they have some tough games coming up but that team has a lot of heart and will to win. USC put up a hell of a fight though and kudos to them. They played hard on both sides of the ball. I do have a thought about the order of going first in OT, I thought it was determined by coin flip after each OT session, but last night I never saw a coin flip after the first one. And in the 2nd OT when Stanford went 2nd and scored to send it to a 3rd OT, the commentators said the defenses were getting tired, so Stanford went first in the 3rd OT and got to go against a tired USC defense and at the same time the Stanford defense was on the sidelines getting a blow....seems like a definite advantage to Stanford.

    2. Hangover games....Wisconsin and Mich State both lost after playing a big emotional game that ended with one of the more dramatic Hail Mary's in a long time. MSU was never in synch vs the Huskers, credit to the Huskers though for playing hard and deserved the win. Wisconsin who I thought would handle OSU, lost to them. Wisconsin's schedule was not esp highly ranked, maybe they were not as good as we thought after back to back losses now, can they regroup? How good is their defense.

    2. Other Hangover games....Texas Tech was never in the Iowa State game, never and from what I hear they Tech crowd was gone by halftime. I don't know if that is good for Texas who plays them next in Austion or what. But they were just awful yesterday.

    3. I hope that Ark kid is suspended for at least a game for that hit.

    4. JoePa gets his 409th win. They have to have the worst offense of any team in the top 25. I would not be shocked if they lose the rest of their regular season games.

    5. Kudo's to Ohio State for making Lemonade out of Lemons. Team turmoil, 3 losses in a row where they look incompetent on offense and the season seems to be spiraling out of control with young QB. But they have righted the ship and will be a tough out from here on out IMHO. I thought at one time that Mich would have an easy time with them. Not any more.

    6. The Irish. Finally get the type of Navy win that the faithful have been
expecting for a long time. We have superiot size, speed and athleticism and some how in the past we have pissed it all away. Not yesterday, maybe the family fight was good for us. We'll see. The option has been discussed already with regards to Ga.Tech, and Kelly and company put on a clinic...get out front, keep scoring and play tough disciplined defense. You have to play it inside out and we did.

    7. Down goes Clemson....I was waiting for this to happen. They are not a championship defense and they had to outscore a bad MD team, they have been a team dependent on the offense and yesterday it wasn't in synch. Ga Tech gets back on track. I like Paul Johnson as a coach and when his offense is working it's very fun to watch IMHO. I am surprised though that he hasn't evolved it to be more like the Air Force triple option which incorporates more spread elements. It's bound to be hard to recruit a QB to run that offense, most HS QB's want to throw the ball at least some.

    8. LSU/Alabama...home just sharpening their chains and knives! :)

    9. Is the Big East still in existence? WVU latest team to leave, but there is some difference of opinion as to when. WVU says B12 next year, Big East say ...nope 2014 read your contract. Which leaves me wondering why the 6(?) teams the Big East has invited are even interested. With the exception of Boise State none of the ones invited really can replace the ones that left. The new Big East (in Football) will really just be a C-USA East.

    10. Texas A&M ...my condolences to Scott.

    11. Texas...we are in trouble, we couldn't score 50 on Kansas. David Ash played most of the game yesterday seen only on the Longhorn Network which means most people in Texas didn't see it. Mack said early in the week that he would go with 2 QB's vs Kansas but looking at the stats it didn't really turnout that way. 43-0 isn't bad though and is much needed. Now we have a tough finish to the season, Texas Tech up next...which Tech will come to town the one that beat OU on the road or the one that got stoned at home by Iowa State?

    12. OK State, continue to just hammer everybody on offense, their offense is the most imaginative and innovative spread around and the one with the best personnel, but like Clemson I suspect their defense.

    13. OU/Kansas State. I would have been shocked if KSU had even kept the game close vs OU, not just because the Sooners were pissed but I really don't think KSU is as good as their record. Don't get me wrong Bill Synder has done wonders but I think being undefeated this late in the season was more of an anomaly.

    14. Just when you write off Skippy he goes and wins a game...UCLA fans worst night mare he makes a job saving season ending run. :)

We couldn't get the USC - Stanford game until the Clemson game was over. However I got to watch the Stanford drive to tie the game and the OT. Great game, I am happy for Stanford and happy to see kiffy cakes lose.

Hangover games, good analysis. The one that shocked me most was Texas Tech. It pretty much shows what Corey said about Tuberville.

Not surprised by the Irish or Clemson.

LSU - Alabama next week, we should be home from Vandy in time to watch the game. Looking forward and would like to see LSU win.

    Agree about the Big East.

Think Ok. State has a great shot at the Championship game. If Stanford gets by Oregon they are in the running also.

Gators in big trouble for this year, but in my opinion the future is bright.

Man, where's the love? That's okay, I'm used to people pulling for Alabama to lose. It's been going on all of my lifetime. Coach Bryant used it as a motivational tool! 8)

    1. yup.
    2. yup, and hats off to Nebraska, they brought it.
    2b. The Tubberville tease.
    3. From your lips to the commissioner's ears.
    4. yawn.. that game was awful
    5 and 6. yup.
    7. Called it. I don't think Johnson will have as much trouble as you think in the South. The South is filled with run first QBs who, in the past, have wound up being recruited by the bigger boys as QBs then get moved to WR, RB or DB. That guy is one Cam Newton or Tim Tebow type QB away from blowing people's doors off. Groh as his DC is a nice move.
    8. Game of the year, and a pre-cursor to the NC game. Just ask Craig James.
    9. Why are they a BCS conference? Why were they?
    10. Ditto, but mine are sincere.
    11. You'll beat Tech.
    12. Agreed.
    13. Agreed.
    14. Dammit.

Ditto for me on all counts.

Not sure why I think I also prefer LSU.......maybe because for some reason I think they have more respect for the three NCs UF has achieved since 1996 than does Alabama or their fans. I might be way off but it's just a feeling I get and it could come from playing LSU every season vs. the occasional battles with Bama.

Interesting that if LSU wins another NC it's their third since 1996....same as Florida.

Kp you might correct me on this post.....or validate what I am saying.

By the way kp, I mean no offense, just think it's LSU's turn. :)

But I sure wish we were in either one of your places.

    MCG,
I'm sure you are correct. LSU respects UF much more than Alabama does. I'm sure they'll show you that respect the next time you visit Baton Rouge. Let me know how that works out for you.

Like I said, there are a lot of folks around the SEC that pull for Alabama to lose, no matter the opponent. That's okay, it has been that way for a long time. 8)

That's true Bill.....instead we are hoping we can beat Vandy of all teams so that we ensure a bowl of any kind.

Doldrum times for us Gator fans to be sure.

    KP,

Dating back to 1990 UF is 7-4 vs. the Tigers in Baton Rouge and is only 2-2 vs. the Tide in Tuscaloosa.

I guess that explains it.....

Oh....and lest I forget and get squashed by it.....in the last three games between the two UF has been royally toasted by the Tide......so no respect is a natural byproduct of such ugliness by the Gators and none is earned.

    Ergo.......Geaux Tigers!!! :p :D

I think Stanford and OkSt lose one somewhere carrying BSU into their much longed for BCS Title game bid while the Bama fans howl after losing a 3 point nail biter to the Tigers this Sat. and every Tom, Dick and Kirk calling for an LSU-Tide rematch is cancelled out by the poll votes.

    Juicy....

In case you miss the network coverage, the anti-Boise a/q talk started more than 2 weeks ago. There's no outrage because it's just business as usual. Perhaps refer back to the pre-season article I posted from EDSBS called God's Away On Business.

Those of us who have hated this system since its inception have just come to accept that the war to its destruction won't be won in a day, or a week or a season. It's a system based on corruption that will implode or finally morph into a somewhat bastardized version of the very thing it tried so hard to avoid (a playoff).

Why rant away at you guys who are all good gentleman and ladies who just love your respective teams when I can now directly send messages in real time to the people who say such atrocious things? I just wish the next time Brando adjusts his broadcast position, he'd cite his source for once.

There's plenty of outrage, it has never stopped. It's just clear that the change that truly needs to take place isn't going to happen in one big explosion. Those distractions are just part of the season. Nope, this change will come the way rivers bend rocks... slow and over time.. but it's coming. Why blow your blood pressure over something you can't control and is going to take place anyway?
