Texas Tech kicked their arse. The game wasn't as close as the score. OU had no solution for the TT passing game...

I watched the first half... OU's defense looked pretty average.

    Boise should be loving this.

Alabama-LSU will give one of those teams a loss.
Oklahoma is going to kick the **** out of Okie State.
    Clemson is Clemson.

I love how earlier in the day, again for those who don't read the twitter feed, Tim Brando was already campaigning for Wisconsin to jump Boise because Boise was struggling with Air Force.

I can't post here what my response was, but it was funny that during the next Brando break, he mentioned that Boise had absolutely crushed Georgia and that Wiscy didn't have a win that impressive yet... (which was precisely along the lines of my response to him but in a far more polite prose).

Corey, what about Stanford? They seem to be flying under eyeryone's radar screen except Jo Co's. They may not have the speed or talent of Alabama or LSU but their talent and physicality plus having, by far, the best QB in college football makes them a nasty package to deal with. I guess their big question is whether they will be able to deal with Oregon's talent and speed and phenom QB.

Oregon has a lot of weapons to be sure but theyre going to be banged up. I dont see them standing up to stanford this year. The blur is an amazinv offense, but with the right talent (speed and physicality, which stanford has) it can be neutralized with three and outs.

    Mother-F'ing Stanford!!

    I know all about 'em.
Last night they screwed me out of a fantasy win.
They were whipping Washington so easily, Luck (my fantasy QB) only threw for 169 yards and two TD's. If he just gets a few more yards I would have won!!
    (yes... its all about ME!)

I'd say Stanford is one of the three best teams in the country... the other two being Alabama and LSU.

BUT... Stanford's defense has some chinks, as Washington's RB showed last night. If you can get ball in space with some speed, they have trouble. I see an offense like Oregon's giving them heck again... Standard pro-set offenses not nearly as much.

    Bobda,

You bring up a very good question and I was an idiot to leave them off. Honestly, Stanford is one of the few teams I believe who could play with/beat Alabama/LSU....

That being said, they've historically had issues with Oregon... I also believe that the Irish are good enough to get them. We're a very dangerous team. We have all the talent on offense to drop 40 on anyone in a given night and given our defense...depending on which one shows up, we can keep up with them.

I guess it all gets down to their commitment to what they do. Last year, Stanford gave the world the blue print for beating Oregon and then screwed it up. They really have issues with read/zone offenses. The thing is, and I've been bitching about this, is that Oregon is using the wrong QB... we'll see if they stick with Bennett... If they do, then Stanford's defense has a habit of folding under that attack.

I just don't see Stanford NOT dropping one to the Irish or the Ducks honestly.

I'm with you... I am.. I want to see how Stanford handles USC next week. Stanford is just laughing their way through the schedule and USC is on a high right now playing as well as they can...

If they destroy USC (which I am thinking just might happen), then even the stretch of Oregon, Cal and Notre Dame (then P12 title game) won't stop them and the Cardinal will be looking to dance on the big stage...

Still, at this stage, I don't see them running that gauntlet (if I dare borrow an SEC expression).

    LOL!

I agree with you. That is a brutal 4 game stretch.

    ;)

I will say this though... if they run that and come out unbeaten, they deserve to get in to face whoever takes the SEC auto-bid.

    Corey,

If they run the table... they will be in. I have no doubt of it.

But then you know my dream is to have at least 3 undefeateds from the auto-qualifying conferences.
It will be interesting to see what happens if we end up with OKSt,ALA/LSU, and Stanford all unbeaten.

Same thing will happen this year as in 2005 when USC, Texas and Auburn were undefeated. 2 will go to BCS game the other to a BCS Bowl. There will be bitching and moaning but the winner of the BCS game will be the Nat'l champion. Oh sure maybe there will be a split like when USC was left out in 2003 and the BCS Champ was LSU and the AP Champ was USC. But the sky won't fall.

yeah it will all play out, but I just can't see Okie State winning out. Oklahoma really is a talented team as is Wisconsin.. when those teams choke away games, they have a way of coming back trying to make statements week after week and do so convincingly..

Given the results of the season so far does anyone think that playing Alabama and LSU in successive weeks is not a "gauntlet"?

It's ridiculously hard is what it is.

And.....Terry.....the Bama/LSU winner is so strong and will be even stronger if they win out that no way there is a split title with another AQ unbeaten because a loss in the BCS Title game would only serve to strengthen the rating and rep of the team that would have beat them.

We should just have Bama and LSU play each other in a nine game series and 5 wins gets the championship. Why even bother with the rest of the season?

    Why.....

....because wouldn't it be interesting to see LSU take on Boise in the BCS title game and Bama take on an unbeaten Okie State in the Sugar Bowl.

We could answer a lot of questions with that scenario.....

Yes.....I do have questions still about Boise in particular.

I want to see the best Boise has to offer vs. what I think will be a very good SEC Champion.

A well played game...close.....even if a loss tells me Boise should always be on even ground in the BCS mix.....always until proven otherwise.

A boring blowout loss and they can STFU in the future.

The other question is just how good is SEC #2 this year? I don't propose at all seeing the loser of Bama/LSU in the BCS Title game vs. the winner but I would love to see that team play the odd man out of the BCS invitation in the Sugar Bowl.......that would be cool.

Finally they did and it was about time.

    From Tony Barnhart:

"I'm happy to report that on Oct. 22, some eight Saturdays after toe first met leather, the 2011 college football season finally began"...

    ....yes it did.

That must have been pre-SEC auto-bid, I guess!
