Wolf hybrids were not all that uncommon in the UP. Owners of female huskies, German shepards etc. in heat would leave their animal out in the backyard. Lo and behold, a wolf looking for romance would make a late night visit.

I believe they now have been banned in Michigan

I recall reading somewhere that mothers in the Houston area have adopted a scheme similar to the UP hybrid dog breeders by tying their adult age, unmarried daughters to the backyard fence at night in the hope that some wolfish dentist on the prowl will pay a late night call....

In 1992, scientists reclassified wolves and dogs as the same species. You can buy wolf-dog hybrids in many states, including California. I recently bought a beagle and when I was puppy shopping I noticed that many breeders were selling wolf-dog pups around SoCal...

If the picture in my posted article is accurate that thing is so evil and ugly looking you have to wonder what kind of butt ugly dog could possibly have mated with a wolf to create such a monster.
