Lots of crap has been circulated about this subject (compliments of the ESPN Shitzkrieg) but I thought I'd give you guys some inside info on what happened and why A&M bolted...
This was sent to me by a friend who knows quite a few of the folks named in this little "report"....

I'm not familiar with Texas' thinking or with the fine print in all this, but as an average joe up here in Big 10 country, I wondered then and still do why Texas would jilt the rest of the conference when it came time to consider a network. The only logical reason I can see is either Texas did not see the Big 12 surviving, or Texas is thinking of independence down the road, or both. Either way, if and when the Big 12 folds, it would seem to me that the LHN would be a major reason for the collapse. I say this without any bias - positive or negative - toward the conference or any team within.

Seems to me tu all along was thinking of independence as a viable backup plan, in which they played hardball with their first choice in the Big 12 due to the additional income and unbalanced power that it brought them. If enough bolted (not likely since most of them are in orbit with nowhere else to go) they had that backup in their back pocket.

You know Terry, even for a tu fan you truly are a class act. This is one of the few times you and I don't see eye-to-eye, but as usual, you handle it with a level demeanor that is a credit to you.

Now, if that could rub off on the rest of the tu nation.
