Don, I agree with you and Stu in that it is premature to make a final judgement on Luke and the job. That said, I stand by my earlier statement that I believe him - at this point - to not be ready for a job of this magnitude. He is after all only a year or two removed from a position coach and only shared co-ordinator duties with Heacock....that's one helluva jump. Like going from being co-manager of the lawn and garden at your local store to being the CEO of Wal-mart. Night and day difference....almost like going from community organizer and law school professor to President of the United States.....and we see what kind of train wreck that turned into...... I am more than willing to wait till season end to make a final determination and yes I agree, if there is somebody brought in to replace him, I would expect him to leave, unfortunately.
I doubt Urban stays retired from coaching forever but I am not sure he wants the pressure of a Notre Dame or Ohio State maybe ever for the rest of his life. Losing a Big Ten title game to say......Michigan.. might just eat away at his insides too much and I think he knows that.
With regards to Urban, on one board that I read there are some guys who claim to have known Urban when he was an assistant under Lou and Davie. They say that Shelly Meyer will never move back to a cold weather school. Texas when Mack Brown retires is a possible destination if Urban wants back. But they also say he will not return to coaching till his son is out of high school.
