I would personally love this. We had to give up Auburn as a yearly opponent a couple of years ago. It was always one of my favorite games. Auburn Would Move To SEC East
Of course they would right now getting out of the SEC West would improve their annual chances for making the SECCG!! Not to mention setting up a potential all Alabama SECCG on occassion.
1. What Terry said is both right and funny. 2. I've said this before, but Auburn makes more sense in the East. Their other traditional rival besides Alabama is Georgia. They'd just be swapping out who the non-divisional rival would be.
A couple of things, first that would take away the Alabama Tennessee game as an every year game. I don't know how the two schools would feel about that. Second, I guess if you think that your competition would lesson for the SEC Championship by getting into the same division as the Gators who have won twice as many SEC Championship games as anyone else then I would only say welcome aboard. Like I said I am all for this, having Auburn back on our schedule on an every year basis would be great by me.
You're subduing yourself Bill.. think of the annual black helicopter postings for the Auburn game with Dave
Hey maybe those guys at Auburn are just a bunch of good ole boys who want to help out the SEC with where to place A&M.
Give me a break Corey, look at the winners of the Championship game. Florida 7 Alabama 3 LSU 3 Tennessee 2 Auburn 2 Georgia 2 East 11 West 8 1990 - 1999 East 6 West 2 2000 - 2009 East 5 West 5 2010 West 1 National Championships During that time Florida 3 LSU 2 Alabama 2 Auburn 1 Tennessee 1 The West has won the last two with Alabama and Auburn but the East won 3 out of 4 prior to that. And so it goes, pretty even if you ask me and I really don't understand how I am deluding myself. And I might add that if you think the Gators are going to stay down you just might be deluding yourself. However we are all entitled to our opinions.
This is why I didn't want to screw around with expansion. A&M is a great program but I don't want to have to give up Auburn or Tennessee for them.
We sure did Cindy, accept my apology and it's corrected. The irony is that it was one of my favorite NC's that wasn't Gator. Tenn beating FSU and Alabama beating Miami are right at the top of my list. I understand what you are saying kp, but I believe it is inevitable and Texas A & M would be a great addition. I hope team 14 will be as good.
But kp, I notice you didn't comment on how much stronger the West is than the East in the SEC. I hope that is because it is as obvious to you as it is to be that we have great balance.
Bill, You and I both know those things swing back and forth. I just like the balance, traditions, and rivalries that we have right now. A&M's traditions are with other schools, and unless we want to bring in Ga. Tech, whoever else joins the conference will be the same way. AND we may have to realign and mess up our existing rivalries. B*llsh^t! Let's just let these other folks do what they want and stay calm and don't mess with success. :?
actually, the West has won 3 of the last 4. In order, they are LSU (Florida), Alabama and Auburn. At this moment, the west looks much much better than the East. Also, looking at your list (thanks for breaking it down).. your Division is you guys.. and then pretty much Tennessee and Georgia turtling their heads out every few years. It's just you for the most part. The West has always been more balanced and now the competitive Tide in that division has risen to the point that I'd honestly pick any of the big 4 in the West now (Alabama, LSU, Arkansas or Miss State) to win the East... notice, defending national champion Auburn is not on my list.. Also, you guys have teams like Vandy and Kentucky in the East.. There's no one that bad in the west and you have two of them. Mix in down years for UT and it's not what you're painting it Bill..
Corey, A few years ago it was Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. Alabama was down, LSU was down, Miss St. is usually mediocre at best and Auburn and Arkansas are up and down. Anyway, I am enjoying the season so far.
I didn't paint anything Corey, just presented the numbers the painting is all yours. Yes the West won 3/4, however it's interesting you cut it off there as the East won the two before that making the last 6 games 3 for each. But as you said Florida has been there the most times, won the most times and has a winning record since 1990, when Spurrier arrived, against every SEC team. So I am not sure just how you think that Auburn would be coming to an easier side of the SEC. And again for the record, I did not paint a picture I just presented the true numbers and let you paint the picture I knew you would.
Bill, I cut if off there because the kids playing college football were in middle school when the SEC East was the dominant division. In your heyday, Florida was still the beast of the East. Back to my original reply though.. I'd love Dave's annual tin foil hat postings if Auburn was a divisional game
Corey, I could care less about what you atribute to Dave, what I am discussing is the Divisions in the SEC. I personally and I am sure the Gator teams have no fear of playing anyone in the SEC. I am glad to see that Auburn and a lot of the SEC teams feel the same way. We have an incredible league with incredible balance and no one is likely to dominate our league in the near future. Spurrier did when he brought in the fun and gun, but the rest of the SEC reacted and did what they had to do and the SEC has won 9 National Championships with 5 different teams since 92. Obviously the teams in our league respect each other but don't fear to play each other. Bring on Auburn or anyone else and I am sure they feel the same.
oh ****, you're missing all the fun in this.. enjoy the masturbatorium. Period.. the east is and was the big 3 and a the other two... period. The west's 2 worst teams are Ole Miss and Miss State.. I think they've fared more than well against the Gators in the past. The depth in your conference is in the west... the east is really top heavy.
