Well it's that time again!! Man I would have liked to have gone to AA off of a good win, but it is what it is. I think we have a pretty good shot if we don't commit 5 turnovers.

I am guessing that Tommy Rees will get the start, one thing we know about Rees is that he won't be intimidated by a large crowd at the Big House. I think we'll move the ball vs UM defense, but can we stop Denard Robinson?

It's official, Tommy Rees is the starting QB for Michigan. Kelly said he will be the starter from here on out, it's not a 1 game deal. Must be a tough situation for Crist. He's a quality kid and I hope he keeps his head up and stays ready.

Any changes at flanker or punt returner? It's time to let the frosh RBs get a little action too. Wood needs a breather at times and we need to hold onto the football when he's out of the game.

I'll wait another day or two to get my composure back after that debacle last sat. I'm still waking up in the middle of the night saying to myself, "did we really lose that game?". I'll check in later, still too much pain.</t>

I'm with Tim. I haven't come down from the ledge yet from last Saturday.

Guys, I feel your pain. Tennessee had, for the last four years, the kind of problems you saw this past week. I'm not saying that is behind us... just happy to not see it in one game. There are brighter days ahead for ND. Give the coach a long leash for a few years. However, if he bolts for USC, shoot him before he gets across the state line! 8)

I guess I should be happy I didn't get to see the game. I had it Tivo'd but deleted it when I got home, wouldn't have been the whole game any way since they moved it to Versus.

Just beat Michigan and we'll be fine.

I read through Kelly's press conference and one of the reporters asked this...
I'll be interested to see what his body language said to that question.

Oh and gipper will be happy to know that Kelly is sticking with the Detroit kid as the backup RB!

Why can't we have a quiet successful coach like say Lombardi?

You know when he says he's on TV more now, he's right. He has been this way his whole coaching career I'm sure, but no TV for Grand Valley State, CMU and not a lot for UC. So there weren't any close-ups of his tirades. I know that for the whole time he was at Cincy ESPN was touting how he was going to be moving to a big time program soon and generally being a Brian Kelly booster, they never once mentioned that he was a ranter on the sideline. Now of course everybody wants to show a picture of him blowing his top.

Winning will be the cure for that of course, but I do hope that Kelly some how some way is able to gain a little better control of his emotions.

I think I said it before, I have to wonder the effect it has on recruiting, again if he wins a lot it won't have much, but right now it might.

It's been awhile but I seem to remember that when Spurrier was at UF that he berated his QB's pretty bad on the sideline. He seems to have calmed down since he returned from the NFL though.

Kelly just needs a good hat to throw down and stomp on to rid his anger... Lou Holtz did all kind of things on the sideline until he took to wearing hats...

Or a quiet successful coach like Landry, Coach K or John Wooden.

Lombardi coached at a different level and in a different era. No comparison there.

I am getting killed on the BGI BB because I dared to suggest this guy is way over the the top. Take a look at that face. They'll be zipping him up in a body bag one of these games. Guys like that are dead before they hit the ground.

Look, I think he's a good coach. But I think he can lose this team with his hysterics. There is a game going on while he's jumping up and down. That stuff is for the practice field.

I played and / or coached four different sports for 25 total years so I'm not new to this rodeo. I've seen every kind of nut there is with a whistle and a clipboard. A truly strong coach who commands respect can freeze you with a glance. And a coach in control of himself can control those around him.

JO'Co! Am I crazy or what?

First, as to Wooden, who knows what he'd be like if he had to coach a team of bed crappers. Hell when you win 88 in a row you can be pretty mellow. I think that coach K is really tightly wrapped. It doesn't show on the outside often but I recall the one season he had a dog of a team and all of a sudden he was on medical leave so he didn't spoil his winning percentage.
And the only football coach you mentioned was Landry who "coached at a different level and in a different era."

I always thought that Tom Osborne did everything with class and was a winner year in and year out...

I keep coming back to Spurrier and his visor spiking, yelling at his qB's. I remember Vol Jeff saying during the 90's when the UF/Tenn rivalry was very hot that if he had a son who was a QB he would not want him to play for Spurrier. But the big difference is that Spurrier won a ton of games, won a Nat'l Championship, competed nearly every year for a NC.

That's because Spurrier coaches ladies touch football in his spare time....
