A new era, new coach and new QB. (QB,s) Temperature in mid 90s and Joe Bauserman, a fifth year senior was very solid in his first career start for the Buckeyes. Rushed fifteen yds for one score and passed for three more to the tight end (Jake Stoneburner) Braxton Miller was also very effective in the the second half, throwing for a score and seemed pretty mcuh at ease. The two QBs completed 69% of their passes with no interceptions. 11 receivers were used today and each had one or more catches.

Although Akron was no match for the Buckeyes, I thought the defense played well and the offense only had one turnover. There is a lot of new and raw talent present.

Next week Toledo will be a bit tougher, but for week one with so many players suspeneded or not availabe, I was pleased with the effort and the results.

Agree...not much of a true readout but very little to hate.

I forgot to mention the play of two of our freshman tailbacks as well. Hopefully Jordan Hall will be reinstated soon.

Congratulations on the Purdue win. The Big Ten Conference teams did well for theselves yesterday.

Congrats to Coach Fickel and the kids. Loved what I saw out of the QB's, good decisions, good execution, good situational awareness.....as for everything else, it was Akron, but Stu said it right, not a whole lot to be disappointed about.....the young QB looks like he's gonna be pretty damn good....

It's early but I thought you guys look good. I still think the Big10 will be between Wisconsin and Nebraska, but I think you guys will be right there to scoop if those two drop the ball.

    Corey,

I agree that Wisconsin and Nebraska are the cream of the crop in the Big Ten at this point, regardless of what Herbie says!

Given all you guys have faced.. you impressed me. Granted the opponent wasn't the greatest but you showed up mentally. That tells me something about this young coach. Now how he'll do when the fit hits the shan... that will show how far he has to go..

I really think if you can get through with 1 or 2 losses, you'll be right in the mix for the title.

Did y'all see what Fickell wore in the heat? Long pants and a long sleeve shirt...under a black pullover. He refused to say he was trying to send a message to the troops. Just said he likes being warm. :-D

Will try to post a picture later. It's doable but a pain w/ the phone.

I noticed that as well Stu....he is a for real tough guy. Four year starter, 50 consecutive starts at nose tackle, 4 year consecutive undefeated state heavyweight wrestling champion.....Spielman mentioned on the broadcast yesterday that he once made the mistake of challenging Fickell to a wrestling match....10 seconds later he was eating dirt. On an earlier interview I had seen, the question was asked who he thought would come out standing in a cage match among Big 10 coaches.....Fickel just grinned and said he liked his chances......I don't think this team will lack for toughness.

So far I like what we've seen.....tho we've only just begun.

Luke is going to be a no nonsense and a very competitive coach. I think he may well be just what the doctor ordered. Lead by example. Go Bucks!

Local media is reporting that the three players suspended for the Akron game will be elgible to play Saturday vs Toledo. Also Jamal Berry hopefully will be able to play. (Hamstring injury)

Coach Fickell has indicated none of the aformentioned players will start. He will give the nod to the individuals whom played in Saturdays game against the Zips. I like that decision.

Sounds like a man that wants to transmit the right message to his team.

    Don,

You wouldn't believe (well, you probably would) what tickets are going for that game. There's some of the skybox levels that are over a $1,000 bucks for one ticket.

I'll enjoy it on T.V. thank you.

Hey Buck T...make sure you give me a call when you hit town. I've got a welcome to the motherland present for ya. I'll give you hint: it rhymes with SNOBBLEBED.

Both bad and good news on that front Husker......good news is that my daughter has blossomed into quite the cross country racer....made the varsity, top freshman in the county, one of top 10 frosh in the region, medaled in her first travel meet, etc.....bad news is that they decided to hold the County Championships on the same day as the game without consulting me......bottom line, I'll not be making the trip..... :(

    Orange jersey....
