It's not over, and anything can happen but I gotta say WOW. 0 to 16 with 4 minutes left in the first half. Notre Dame looks like they are doing everything they can to give the game to USF... and USF needs no help!
ND <r>Nothing like handing the other team the game. Can't believe this many mistakes<br/> <E>:?</E></r>
I hear you Tim. Several teams have had this issue in the first game. I'm just hoping that ND will knock the rust off and strt playing. I also hope that Tennessee has already knocked off the rust before our 5 p.m. CST game starts! :?
Yes I'll be honest I am rooting for USF but Notre Dame has pushed the Bulls around on both sides of the ball (They really do make USF look small out there) .Prevent the dumb mistakes and come back and erase the 16 point lead in the second half and take control of the game. This lightning postponement only helps the Irish in my opinion....
 Maybe the lightening and rain will wash away the bad karma going on right now... wonder if Mike ws one of the 3000 left in the stadium untl the lightening strike of course
I hesitate to make this observation...you all know more about Notre Dame, Brian Kelly, and coaching in general than I ever will... But I thought coach Kelly lost his composure several times. There certainly are times when you need to rip into your guys to wake them up. But I thought there were a couple of times when they needed composure and a calm rallying of the troops and I thought he was going ballistic. Please don't consider that a smart assed comment.
Stu, Your comment was right on the money. He is one of the most hysterical game day coaches I have ever seen. I don't think he will last long on this job because he is too frantic. Today his team was not ready to play and he panicked. You can see the team tense up when he starts losing it. Then the cascade of turnovers and penalties. I made this observation last year and everybody thought I was crazy. I'm making it again.
Stu You're opinion is shared by a number of folks. I'm not sure exactly how I'd be if in the opening game my double digit favorite team committed 5 turnovers, 4 personal fouls, missed a makable FG and managed to lose by 3. He's always been pretty hot on the sideline. That's Shipwreck Kelly.
I was waiting for the lightening to strike him... he had enough built up heat to attract more than any lightening rod/ maybe he was the bad karma on the field.
I know this is an unpopular opinion, but our coaching is horse ****. Their assessments are clearly questionable at best. Kelly has a history of throwing his QB under the bus and he did just that today.. on opening day, in a game in which the QB was way down on the list of 'people to blame.' No one carried the ball.. no one said 'follow me'... Once again, we can't run the ball on 3rd and 1.. WTF, how is this possible? It's a horse **** gimmicky offense.. Our defensive calls were questionable at best. Carlo needs to be the other linebacker and I don't give a **** what anyone said about any great battle or how someone looks in 7 on 7 drills. Carlo made some mistakes but he was in the mix to make mistakes. I didn't notice Fox because he was too busy on the ground. (I did almost nothing but watch that position). With Carlo on the field, we are physical and stop the run. He may not be the best in space, but I'll take eliminating the run and forcing the opponent to be single faceted every time. Seriously, ask yourself what are the hallmarks of good coaching and well coached teams? Now ask yourself what you saw out there Saturday? I know what I didn't see in the press conference.. and that was a coach putting that loss on himself. I keep wanting to believe in this staff, but I can't.. I just can't.
ND <r>After this game I know these things:<br/> <br/> You can not win a game against any half way descent team with <B><s></s>5<e></e></B> turnovers.<br/> <br/> Crist should not be our starting QB. He didn't look any better than he did last year at this time. Just start Rees. <br/> <br/> Turk should not be our punter....period.</r>
