Me too.....and being a Republican did not change the result of that upbringing.

That's why I think the Governor of Florida has no grounds to decide how tough it is for Floridians to pay for healthcare when he only pays $30.00 per month for his.

Same goes for members of Congress.

If a father of four pays out $30% of his $40,000.00 annual earnings in healthcare costs... which is very common for some....then a Congressman should have to experience the same kind of financial burden and pain of that also before he decides if and how we need healthcare reform.

But first we should make sure that freeloading SOB father of four pays his fair share of taxes by God.....before we burden some poor millionaire with any more of the tax burden.....

Shame on them for paying for it all......and still getting called names. That's a good one.....there is another option you know.

Perhaps we should not spend as much?

 Now gone beyond pissed please explain to me what the hell his becoming a republican had to do w. anything my parents are very staunch republicans and they have also been extrmemely chartiable I was raised that way.. I still dont see what party you belong to should make a difference if you are stating that because you are a republican you cant have compassion or care about others and thats the way a democrat thinks then we are in bigger trouble than I thought. I am glad I am a conservative republican . but that wouldnt change the way I feel about someone in need. Jim and I have never turned out backs on anyone . even it was tight to begin with... we have opened our doors to kids in need of a home and were there for them for guidance. but I dont see what policital party I belong to has anything to do w. that. ....... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

mrsjoco, what we have here is our Gator friend perpetuating nonsense that the conservatives are inhumane fire-breathing monsters incapable of even the slightest human compassion -v- the virtuous and charitable lib/dems....

perhaps by his reckoning the VP should change parties......this is truly pitiful.....

    See above.....

BT thinks that any increase in tax revenue should come from the father of the family of four who is paying a huge percentage of his income into family healthcare.

If we were talking about another family essential like gasoline for the family car so that father could get to work the equivalent price of his gas per gallon as a percentage of his family income compared to the millionaire's price would be something like $200.00 per gallon vs. a normal $3.50 per gallon for the millionaire.

And yet the GOP is outraged that with child tax credits and low income credits etc. etc. this father of four may not be paying any income tax and dammit.....HE is the guy that needs to pony up for more taxes......not the friggin mllionaire who has it to burn. And they have a sneaking suspicion this father is a no good drug addict who would be making $200,00.00 per year if he wasn't so damn stupid or lazy so he and his family deserve all of the crap they get.

Warren Buffet is a decent man with those ideas he is espousing about putting an end to the Congressional mollycoddling of millionaires.

Not true Gator. I'll speak for myself thank you very much....accurately speaking for others is not one of your core skill sets

BT doesn't think there should be any increase in tax revenue....and certainly not until we have addressed our out of control spending....we raise plenty of money. Raising more by confiscating the well-earned wages of the private sector success stories will only serve to embolden the spending addicts, curing none of societal ills but perpetuating the destructive mentality of entitlements. There is no revenue issue that fiscal discipline can't cure.....

Why give an alcoholic another drink? Why buy the morbidly obese a big mac, fries and a shake......to what end? Who benefits? It benefits nobody and is destructive to those most in need of help.....

I think spending cuts will be necessary too and some revenue increases are needed also until our economy recovers.....if ever it does.

I have agreed with George that we need to get the hell out of all wars right now......and quit farting around about it.

That is the very first place to start slashing.

Then pet projects all across the board should be deleted unless their elimination would result directly in the loss of multiple/many jobs. That would require extensive review I would say.

So....yes....spending should be cut....but the place to start is not in a 65 year old's social security account.

so while Dave gets his ass handed to him by my mom.

    TOM
You said a mouthful there. A micro example of this school of thought.. The city I lived in during my teen years went from being an OK place to live, to a sh^thole by the time I was in my mid 20s. The single biggest reason being...none of the politicians or community leaders actually lived in the city. They all had high salary positions but lived in the more posh, upscale communities in the hills. Their decisions were based entirely on what would make THEM the most money.... not the city.

So the people voted into law that those on the city council, mayor, police chief, fire chief etc... had to hold residence in the city.. and almost immediately, the city began to dig itself out of the incredible hole that it was placed in.

Don't really view it that way as I think the degree with which she was offended by my post was unfounded. .....mainly because I readily acknowledged the high road and good character that Jim has exhibited.....or is a part of his upbringing.

Good thing I didn't have anything negative to say or it would have been bad.... :D

I agree with Jim and Diane.

And anyone who things that because you are a conservative you don't have compassion and understanding of other people have their heads stuck so far somewhere that they can't see.

Dave you lose what little credibility you have left when you talk that way.

I get sick and tired of it(****) getting handed to me here that anyone left of center is lazy, doesn't work hard for what they get and is always looking for a hand out.

If any of of you think that way.....then it's fair for me to think of you as lacking compassion and understanding.

Gee Dave, I am not telling you how to think, only commenting on the immaturity of that comment.

Believe it if you wish, who cares.
