Oy. Two in the 9th. I know the kids on the staff are young, and the letdowns were due to happen, but 1-4 into a road trip against Tampa Bay and KC? What a grinder. Over 4 hours. Sox hit into inning-ending double plays with the bags jammed twice.

    Hmmm, bourbon....

My TV remains OFF Ricko! Loss of Clement..Foulk..Wells, has been too much to overcome this season. Couple that with the Kidde corp being brought up just a year too soon and this is the result. ( You might also call Beckett a kid at age 25..he is still learning). jif

Back to some of the same problems from early in the season. Lack of production from the bottom of the order, poor hitting with runners on, and a bullpen that can't hold a lead. I hope they can turn this around quickly.

    I need some coffee...

Guys, guys. Still have a long way to go. You were due for a mini-slump, you haven't had one all year. I do sympathize with you on the injuries though it's hard to consider Wells a major loss.....

The thing you have to be most concerned with is Papelbon. He's done a hell of job for you and will in the future but the aura of invincibility has been lifted at an inopportune time.

    Hang in there.

OK so it was just the combination of the Early Times and a tough loss... :) I can't understand that!

Four straight losses to cellar dwellars, Doc. And snatching defeat from the jaws of victory in a couple of 'em, at that. :|

Jif, They definitely are not the two worst staffs. I would guesstimate that they are in the top six in the AL for all 9 innings, including, in no particular order, Chicago, Detroit, Oakland, and Minnesota. Someone else may have a different opinion, but that's how I see it at this time. Based on this past weekend, the White Sox' starters are rounding into form for the home stretch, and their relievers are very, very tough. IMO the pressure in the AL Central has shifted back onto Detroit.

Back to the AL East, I see NY as having the edge in pitching over the Bosox and the edge in the division race, but the intensity of that rivalry makes it a toss-up for first place IMO.

The Yankees horrific defense could be the deciding issue in the end. :(

yes true..E-5 when he marches into the Fens Friday will either make or BREAK that series. Be interesting....very interesting indeed. Papelbon pitched (55 pitches last 2 days) and will not be available for first 2 Tiger games. That leaves Seanez/Tavarez to close...next question? This thing could be ovah by Friday!! jif

LOL! That's funny. Reminds me of a nickname given to an Irish DB a few years back who was always getting burned by the other team's receivers. His number was #15. They called him Highway 15.
