Article here in the TBT points out that our beloved governor Rick Scott as well as other high ranking state legislators all pay only $30.00 per month for family healthcare coverage. When you have a guy like this that insists on middle class citizens of this state either losing access to healthcare or paying upwards of $800.00 or as in what would be my case $1200.00 per month in family insurance premiums it just doesn't seem like he has one bit of credibility in his policies against Obama care or in setting any other health care policy. Come to think of it....every last member of Congress should be left to fend for themselves for healthcare coverage like the millions upon millions of average Americans they want to thumb their noses to.....say tough **** to. It would only be fair.......
Congress, the Senate, and all those high level Govt employees have benefits in the healtcare and retirement area that most of us can only dream of. Of course you single out Rick Scott because he's a (R), I wonder if you would post this if the Gov of Fla was a (D)?
Of course he wouldn't. He also wouldn't research to see at what point that benefit became available and under who's watch. He still hasn't answered my question:
That includes Democrats as well. The article I read points that out. But usually Democrats are much more healthcare friendly to those of lesser means to pay for it or for those that have been excluded for one reason or the other. The GOP could give a rat's ass if you can afford it or not......even though obviously it is of no concern to their own personal finances. I just think they should have to pay through the nose like the rest of us......all of them.....Dem or GOP. To add insult to injury the Florida taxpayers make up the enormous difference between what their healthcare costs are vs. what they pay in. Scott can do some political grandstanding and turn down a billion dollars offered to the state of Florida taxpayers toward a high speed rail system but he jumps right on board and soaks the taxpayers of Florida for his personal healthcare expenses.
I guess I don't get that question Tom. Why would I personally create jobs by not paying taxes? I might spend a few more dollars and if that is the key you are driving at so then maybe I would but at this point.....in this economy......and given how I have been run through the ringer with loss of job, subsequent underemployment and evaporated home equity....I would be more inclined to save for retirement vs. spend more if I didn't have to pay taxes.
It all boils down to how you view taxation Dave. You think, like most Democrats, that the rich should be taxed out of existence... redistribution of wealth. The GOP believes that tax relief for those that are already paying the highest percentage of taxes is how you create job growth. If I cut your tax burden, a few hundred dollars might be infused into the economy. If I cut the tax burden on a wealthy employer, a few hundred jobs may be opened to stimulate the economy. Does that not have the ring of truth?
The Progressive philosophy is to elevate the poor, the uneducated, the lazy and the unskilled by lowering the standards of all and taking from the producers to facilitate this pipe dream. Europe has tried this for a long time and now they are on the brink of meltdown and burning their own cities. Some on this board don't see the connection. You can break down the "rich" by taking their money and giving it away but when its all spent you still have a large segment of society that is stupid, lazy, unmotivated and totally dependent only now there are no rich to fund them any longer. That is Europe today and us tomorrow. No where in this whole pathetic story is personal responsibility mentioned.
Here is where the fundamental disagreement is between the two parties. That is the description it seems that the GOP prefers for the middle class.....no matter how hard members of that class are breaking their balls......trying to make their way and raise American families and pay their healthcare and college costs.......perhaps own a car.....a house. In any event.....if they are middle class.....they must be good for nothing lazy scum looking for a handout. My contention.....and that of the Dems.....is that even if you make $150,000.00 annually as a household......you have no fear of having your taxes raised by Obama and make no mistake......you are still middle class.
Since I can't get you to comment on that clarified point, I'll ask another question: Dave, are you for giving away your social security dollars to illegal immigrants that have not paid a dime into the system? Can you find a way to blame the GOP for this issue?
Absolutely not.....I can't afford to. But...I fail to see how this all relates to the topic of our self-righteous Gov. here in Florida talking down to....taking to task those who cannot afford healthcare while at the same time the scumbag is allowing the taxpayers to pay for his own family's healthcare........and he can afford it 100 times over after the fraudulent deals he pulled on medicare.
11 o'clock news coming up......lead in story seems to be about the Gov's rip-off of the Florida taxpayer. Wait a minute.....just heard the word "hypocrite"...... Opposes Obama's plan........21% of Floridians cannot even afford healthcare and don't have it.... because they are all worthless scum of course... but some pay taxes so Rick Scott can get healthcare......Rick Scott doesn't care if people can't get healthcare......etc. etc..... ......he's takin a beatin........tee hee hee hee Go ahead and defend this guy.......it borders on hilarity.
Yet that is the premise of the party you support? They give away your money to buy the votes of those that will take the money without working for it... then send it out of the country to family members in Mexico where it doesn't help the US economy at all. If the Democrats can continue to follow this path, they have a slave nation ready to vote for them to keep their flow of money. Since the money will eventually dry up, this can't continue.
We ARE the middle class, Dave. That's my point. You know very well who I'm referring to. Just watch Maury Povich or Jerry Springer..... that will give you a clue.
I know that I am.....and I knew I was middle class when I made twice as much money as I do now. If more people understood that they were in fact middle class the GOP would lose a lot of ground.
Nonsense.....if more people understood Econ 101 and/or the well documented lessons of history the lib/Dems would lose ALL of their ground......
 If it wasn't for labor unions, the Democratic Party wouldn't have any men at all. In my lifetime (1950-present) a majority of men have voted for a Democrat for president only one time: Lyndon Johnson in 1964, and that was a sympathy vote for JFK. With this recession falling hardest on men and black men in particular, the appeals of the Democrats are increasingly falling on deaf ears. Men don't want government handouts. Men want to work... (LA Times) — As he confronts the threat of another recession and turmoil in the financial markets, President Obama is being advised by an economic team that is noticeably short on big-name players — potentially hurting his ability to find solutions and sell them to Wall Street, Congress and the American public. “When you ask about the economic team, it’s kind of like, ‘What economic team?’” said Edward Mills, a financial policy analyst with FBR Capital Markets. “They are very thin at a very critical time.” The administration needs all the firepower it can muster, experts said. Yet the team is missing a key messenger in selling Obama’s policies. The post of chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors — an influential position — is vacant and is likely to remain so at least into the fall. Perhaps more telling, there no longer is a formal economic briefing in the Oval Office every morning, a gathering in which Summers, Romer, Geithner and other key advisors assessed the data and batted around ideas with Obama... BTW- Obama is on vacation again, after another grueling round of fundraisers for his reelection campaign.
