That's what a new poll shows Americans want to do with Congress......and especially the obstinate-at-all costs GOP: http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2011/08/09/cnn-poll-time-to-clean-house-in-congress/?hpt=hp_t2 They had better learn the meaning of compromise real soon....
.....of course the socialist spendthrifts of the left should stay in office forever.....that way they can continue the handouts and raise the debt ceiling into perpetuity and all will be well.....perhaps by that time the administration will have completed their preparation of the fiscal 2009 budget......
Hmm maybe next time Standard & Poor's should downgrade the US to a 1 or 2 rating so people will get it in their thick heads that the days of spending are over and like it or not drastic cuts are needed now not later.... But most Americans want it all with no strings attached...
I think the poll shows that the GOP is viewed as the most unbending.....most unable to govern effectively because of a never ending desire to cram their idealogy down everyone's throat without compromise. As I said in another topic......our elected officials represent their entire districts and not just the 51% that voted for them. Somehow we have moved far away from that philosophy and when you do constantly alienate 49% of your constituents you aren't far from being highly unpopular.
Never have a seen a more partisan cram down than the passing of the health care bill. They didn't even allow the Republicans to participate, wrote the bill in some backroom and didn't even give them the courtesy of sufficient time to review the bill before the vote. Last Nov. elections were a message. Those congressmen and women who were elected as Tea Party candidates did exactly what they told their district voters that they would do. I guarantee you that those that voted for them don't want them "thrown out." It's the entrenched career lawmakers who'd sell their mothers to get reelected that have to go. Those that kick the can down the road because they're afraid to do the right thing because although it's best, maybe necessary for the country, would jeopardize their reelections. Forget your ******** CNN "poll" stories. Let's look at a real vote in a traditional liberal state http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/195517/20110810/wisconsin-recall-elections-wisconsin-elections-results-wisconsin-recall-results-wisconsin-collective.htm Tell me how the voters are turning on the Tea Party. Despite the immature "run away" Democratic lawmakers in Wisc., despite the spite recall elections, the voters in Wisc. stood their ground and reaffirmed what had been done there. And the import of the last elections is just beginning to be felt. Republicans control many of the state legislatures. Here in Michigan, since we're losing a congressional seat, the plan is to consolidate districts with Gary Peters and Sander Levin. One of those Dems is going to be "thrown out" just like David Bonier was last time redistricting occurred.
I know you can grasp basic accounting. We're broke. We have unfathomable debt. We have unsustainable entitlement obligations. We have devalued our own currency. We owe foreign nations incredible sums of money. We have unemployment rates not seen since the great depression. The compromise ship has sailed. We cannot afford to compromise.
Is it really all that unreasonable to ask an out of control spender to commit to control his spending before you agree to increase his credit card limit? Seriously? What percentage of voters would disagree with that?
