I have long said here for the past few years.... that we have been in an abyss of broken trust in many aspects of our lives but especially in the financial sector. I came across this commentary today that sums it up pretty well: http://www.cnn.com/2011/OPINION/08/05/davis.us.trust/index.html I hope he is right in that the American spirit can once again persevere and overcome the deceit, insensitivity and deception that has permeated our politics and economics this past decade.
He might have mention the unilateral imposition of a law completely transforming the health care in this country. You know the one that the president said was going to be debated on national TV on C-span and instead was created in a locked back room. The one that polls said a majority of Americans didn't want. The one that the opposing party was given less than 24 hrs. to read its 2,000 pages. (This brougt to you by the same party that is now always asking the opposing party to "compromise.") Wonder how he missed that one?
How about a NLRB that for the first time has denied a corporation the ability to open a new manufacturing plant (40,000 jobs) in a non-union state, because they already have another plant in a union state? How about an EPA that has declared all carbon dioxide emissions to be "toxic pollutants?" Every time you breathe, you exhale carbon dioxide; therefore, they can make "rules" about your personal conduct, because you are a "polluter." Don't go fishing, the EPA has recently used similar logic to claim control of all of America's rivers and waterways... The same party that's responsible for all of these backdoor attacks on our liberties are even worse here in California. Just yesterday, they created a new law in San Francisco which shuts down all health clinics that don't recommend abortions. The lib/Dems slogan is "You must abort or we'll take you to court." Meanwhile, I also have some new laws to contend with starting next Monday. Under California law, as a history teacher I MUST teach about "the positive contributions of the gay/lesbian/ bisexual/ transgender community" in American and California history... http://www.nationalrighttolifenews.org/news/2011/08/%E2%80%9Cyou-must-abort-or-we%E2%80%99ll-take-you-to-court%E2%80%9D/ I could rant on and on, but it all comes down to one thing doesn't it? I don't trust the bastards anymore, and I was a Democrat until I was 30...
BTW- the real vitriol and hate campaign is about to begin. Today's LA Times has a long article laying out what is obvious: Obama can't run on his record and/or the economy, so the lib/Dems strategy is to attack-attack-attack all the way to the next election day. Their idea is to shield the president (more golf?) while his surrogates blast away. This plan is already under way. When Mitt Romney tried to make a speech here awhile back, his words were ignored by all TV and newspaper sources as they covered the Democrat attacks instead. These attacks were all coordinated with local media sources and led by Los Angeles mayor Villaragosa. Romney was so completely drowned out, that I never even heard what he was trying to say, except for a few blurbs on talk radio.
And make sure you don't mention the word "GOD!" (Other than Marv Albert and maybe J. Edgar Hoover, just how do you work the transgender community into American History) :!:
re: how do you...? I'm not sure. My boss is a former U. S. History teacher. I'm sure he'll have lots of neato ideas...heh...heh... My thinking is: as long as I produce high test scores and low parent complaints, I can do pretty much whatever I want. Those things also make my boss's boss happy, which keeps me high on the hill when those balls of doo-doo start rolling down...
In the economic climate today.....where one of the oldest companies GM went bankrupt......where mortgages are upside down wiping out retirement nest eggs......where 401Ks are supposed to replace extinct pension funds..... I have read this from an article on CNN: "Sometimes it seems as if we are all trapped in some big casino where the lights are garish and the noise is bright and constant. Yet in a real casino -- in Las Vegas, in Atlantic City, aboard all those so-called riverboats around the country -- no one is required to play. The people risking their money do so by their own choice; if you stay away from the place, you can't lose. The casino that is the worldwide economic market offers no such comfort. Even if you don't own a single share of stock, you can be wiped out by rolls of the dice taken by others, and by the devastating ripples that follow."
True. Plus you are compelled to gamble in this scenario and you can't even make your own bets. You have to give your money to Congress who bets for you and when they piss away what you were forced to give them originally they demand more and you have no choice but to give the same incompetent fools more of your money to lose. Remember when Bush suggested privatizing a portion of Social Security? More precisely, allowing people to make their own investments? Congress was outraged... that's because that would debunk the illusion that they actually know what they are doing and it would diminish their private piggy bank.
Just more bounty for the wicked and dishonest.....and I truly believe that in this electronic age they would take it with no repercussions.
And the Democratic solutions the the increasing Social Security solvency problem was? Take your time. It's not a long list.
This was at IOTW. I hope it reminds everyone of all the millionaires and billionaires who flew into Chicago on their corporate jets for Obama's birthday.
The Dow today is a good example of the pros vs. the amateurs. The amateurs get slaughtered......selling off in a panic even after the Dow is down past 550 points in one day........then the pros move in and clean up on the deals they left behind. Pros win.....amateurs get crushed.....and yet we should leave Social Security in the hands of novices by privatizing it.
There is a decent chance, Dave, that you won't see any of your Social Security. You would have been better off burying it in coffee cans in the desert like Cousin Eddie.
 Dave you dont really have a clue at all.... no one cleaned up in this mess... everyone was a loser today... even the best of the best. but the biggest loser was America and its citizens not the socialist but the true american that believe in what our forefathers wanted for us... and be very careful here my great great great uncle was a signer of the declaration of independence and my great great great great grandfather was w. Washington when he crossed the Delaware I know which America I want. nm,.
:!: The Democrats haven't even submitted a budget in years. They have no plan for our country...only a plan to get reelected.
Top 12 reasons why I voted democrat 1.
