Standing in a farm field in Central Florida at 5:45 am in the morning with the rest of my employees getting ready to start the day we waited with excitement for the shuttle to pass through on the way to Cape Canaveral. And as always the shuttle did not disappoint us on it's way home. With two very loud sonic booms that shook the shingles it passed over head going North to the landing site 175 miles away. The great thing about this last shuttle flight was that we not only heard it's arrival as we normally do in this part of Florida but were able to watch it pass over head until it banked toward the Atlantic and passed out of sight.

From my viewpoint as an American I can say I am proud of the shuttle program and the energy and excitement is has brought all these years. Hopefully the future of space travel will allow more farm field excursions to share with the future grandchildren.

    :!:
Great post Ralph. I love eyewitness accounts. They're the real history that happens before the word spinners begin their assault on the truth.

Thanks, Ralph. That was a pretty cool account of the re-entry. Wish I could have seen it.
