All I'm going to say is, if you missed the game you missed a really exciting, gutty performance by some pretty tough ladies.

Ditto that....down a player, pressing the action and getting the job done. Outstanding effort.....even the German crowd was fully engaged with the USA chant.... great stuff

Walked into to the bar of my favorite mexican restaurant as they were in the penalty kicks and when the US gal hit the winner, the 3 waiters (all hispanic maybe mexican) all just shook their heads and walked away. I think they were rooting against their country.

Didn't see the match, but watching highlights it was really a great game. They kept saying that the US team was just more fit.

    USA, USA, USA

    Which country is that?

I watched intently from about the 78th minute in regulation to the end. Great victory. Impressive performance. A real show of guts and a refuse to lose attitude.

Great stuff! A true miracle as sports miracles go. It was right up there with the best I've ever seen. Brazil had everything go their way and the Americans were getting hosed by the ref so bad, that the German crowd turned on the Brazillians and took up the USA chant. They played down a man most of the way and pulled off the miracle goal with less than a minute of stoppage time...time that they got when Brazil's Erika faked an injury. It all backfired on Brazil and America haters everywhere.

    This one tastes sweet!
    :p :p

Here is Erika's fake injury that cost Brazil dearly. The phony act wasted four minutes at the end of overtime, but the ref yellow carded Erika and put three minutes back on the clock. The USA tied the game with a miracle goal in the final seconds of the added-on time!

What was a better soccer moment, Abby Wambach or Landon Donavan vs Algeria? Or is it even fair to compare them?

I don't believe in comparing men's and women's sports. That always seems to miss the point. Thirty years ago, the Big Brains in our education system decreed gender equality in our PE classes and sports teams and they've been backing away from that position ever since, because it's simply bad for girls. Modern PE classes are gender-integrated on paper, but the girls and boys don't even line up together for attendance check anymore.

In many sports, such as soccer, basketball and volleyball, the women may not be as big and powerful as the men, but their brand of competition is at least as entertaining. In fact, I would argue that women's volleyball is more entertaining to watch. Men's volleyball is a power game; all slams, all the time. Women's volleyball has power play too, but also includes long rallies and spectacular saves that put spectators on the edge of their seats when two good teams are playing each other.

I think America's women's teams should just be accepted for what they are: our teams.

    Whooop!
Final goal today was scored by America's youngest player, 22 year-old local girl Alex Morgan from Diamond Bar High School!

I saw the goal. Very impressive timing re: the goalie's charge toward her.

Lauren Cheney, who scored the first goal and assisted on the 2nd, is a graduate of Ben Davis HS here in Indy.

My nephew who played soccer through HS and is a big fan feels like the womens game is actually more watchable than the mens game.

The US women's game is certainly more watchable then our men's is. He'll, they play defense and score.

I learned today from my son that there are two Indianapolis-area girls on the team, Lauren Cheney and Lori Lindsey from Pike HS.

There also is a former ND player on the team, Shannon Boxx.

 Ummm! What dirty old Man Joco only became volleyball expert because of our granddaughter Megan who is beginning her freshman year at the University of No Florida on a full Volleyball scholarship... He became volleyball savy when he started attending the games on a regular basis Megans High school team won their CIF Division this year and finished 4 in the state And now our youngest granddaughter Briana just made the freshman team at her new Highschool Upland.... But Softball is still her sport.
