Only read this if you haven't eaten recently. This guy is Obama's business butt buddy and is lecturing the rest of us to suck it up. Please note that he is considered one of the worst big company CEOs out there and that GE not only paid zero taxes last year but apparently was the recipient of $14 billion in tax credits and other government spiffs. http://money.cnn.com/2011/07/11/news/economy/immelt_chamber_jobs_summit/index.htm?iid=HP_Highlight
I have wondered sometimes that business executives have shifted and then kept some jobs overseas because it was the "chic" thing to do.....the flavor of the month fiscal policy to show stockholders that the company was being run the correct way and "headed in the right direction". Maybe a little analysis would indeed prove that continuing those policies isn't as prudent as it once was.
Yes....but don't they rely on the company to provide due diligence on things such as outsourcing.......and hope the company get's it right and keeps it right?
 January 21, 2011: (Huff Po) — Jeffrey R. Immelt, the chairman and chief executive of General Electric Co. tapped by President Barack Obama as his next top outside economic adviser, will be asked to guide the White House as it attempts to jump-start lackluster job creation and spur a muddled recovery. Immelt’s firm stands as Exhibit A of a successful and profitable corporate America standing at the forefront of the recovery. It also represents the archetypal company that’s hoarding cash, sending jobs overseas, relying on taxpayer bailouts and paying less taxes than envisioned. . . . As the administration struggles to prod businesses to create jobs at home, GE has been busy sending them abroad. Since Immelt took over in 2001, GE has shed 34,000 jobs in the U.S., according to its most recent annual filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. But it’s added 25,000 jobs overseas.
 what are you talking about all their collection (financials) are done in Phillipines and India. or off shore they were one of the first large collection sites to go..... outsourced.
I see that CEO of General Electric is doing his best to start the US economy... Didn't he just say this: http://news.yahoo.com/ge-moving-top-x-ray-executives-china-155038048.html;_ylt=ArNrP2ESsUIuPa8Iiapm1MmyBhIF;_ylu=X3oDMTM5NzdqM3ZiBHBrZwM5NzI4ZWNkMi1hMDk0LTNlZDEtOTRjZC04ZTJjMTY2Yzg4YWUEcG9zAzMEc2VjA01lZGlhVG9wU3RvcnkEdmVyAzM3ZDljNGIwLWI2ZDYtMTFlMC1iMWRmLWRjNDU5OWMwNWFiNg--;_ylg=X3oDMTFtcHBmZ2VxBGludGwDdXMEbGFuZwNlbi11cwRwc3RhaWQDBHBzdGNhdANidXNpbmVzcwRwdANzZWN0aW9ucw--;_ylv=3
