Here is a link to a short bio on Michele Bachmann. Very interesting life. She is starting to appear to be a viable candidate. http://www.weeklystandard.com/articles/queen-tea-party_575540.html?nopager=1
On the national news last night, they did a brief feature on her. It included a piece showing a SNL actress looking like her. I don't know the actress' name, but the point of the piece was that Bachmann's arrived because she's being spoofed on SNL.
I see she made a gaft in Waterloo the day she announced. She said it was the home of John Wayne, but it was where his parents met and he was born 3 hours from there in another Iowa town. Hopefully she is ready for scrutiny that running for President brings, they will brutally point out every possible error that you make and attempt to make it like you are stupid.
I read the bio that George posted above. she truly is an admirable person who happens to be a good-looking woman. I would speculate that she will make a hard run at the nomination. The problem I see is her hard-line conservatism, which would tend to eliminate a large segment of the electorate in that area between the middle and the far right, and her lack of heavy duty firing-line experience. Conservatism worked for Ronald Reagan, even for Richard Nixon, but it was a disaster for Barry Goldwater. Is she a Reagan? No. Is she a Nixon? No. Is she a Goldwater? Maybe, maybe not. JMO (Just my opinion).
Her gaffe went deeper than that. Apparently Waterloo, Ia. is the one time home of John Wayne..... Gacy. Ooops!
BFD. Hardly a gaffe...Waterloo does lay claim to John Wayne and being from there herself, she knows it. His parents were from there and he was born near there. Then to tie in Gacy, who was born in Chicago and lived briefly in Waterloo... Hell, the Huffpost even has a nasty picture of Gacy posted next to Bachmann's. What a crock...it shows the lengths they will stretch and the lies they will believe to defame any Republican candidate, and I do mean any. What an absolute crock. Is there nobody willing to call them on this sh!t?
I drove through Waterloo Ia. once. I don't lay claim to having hailed from there. Its a silly point but she said that John Wayne was from there when in fact he was born 150 miles away. It's her misfortune that JW Gacy actually lived in Waterloo. Of course the press is going to run with it. This is national politics and anything goes. I like Bachmann but she has to be careful about crying foul too much. She should just ignore the John Wayne gaffe and also put the Chris Wallace episode behind her as well. Focus on the issues.
He asked her in a recent interview if she was a "flake". She handled it pretty well on the spot and he later apologized but she did not expressly accept his apology.
All I know is my left friends just hate the **** out of her... which means they must see her as some sort of threat..
