Well Time to put the ND Spring topic to rest. I'll lead off our summer chat with a state of ND athletics from my close friend Jack Swarbrick. Swarbrick on ND Athletics
Women's softball in the reginals this afternoon. Tomorrow the Lacrosse guys shoot for another trip to the Final Four in Baltimore next weekend.
Irish sign another OL. Keep em coming... http://www.southbendtribune.com/sports/collegesports/notredame/sbt-notre-dame-football-recruiting-irish-add-offensive-lineman-harrell-20110519,0,4063454.story http://irish.nbcsports.com/2011/05/20/mark-harrell-is-seventh-commitment-to-2012-recruiting-class/
Article on Michael Floyd in the SBTrib. When Weis left ND he reported told Swarbrick that the thing that most needed to change at ND was ResLife. It appears that has happened. For a long time I was very happy with the Coach not having much input into the whole process for off the field stuff. But over the last ten years it seems like the decisions of Res Life were just so far out there, esp compared to other schools. I don't want lax discipline but I also don't like when they go overboard. Seems like recently just about any appearance before Res Life resulted in a season suspension. I remember when Brock Williams piled up a bunch of parking tickets...gone for the season. Lets have good tough and fair policy and not throw out the baby with the bath water! Floyd
Sign of the times with college football recruiting...the solid verbal that doesn't sound so solid. Maybe Tim will explain to me how ND doesn't run the Spread Offense! Nick Baratti
ND <r>Hell I'm confused. What is this kid talking about? Brian Kelly doesn't know how to run anything BUT a SPREAD offense! maybe we would be better off without this one. <E>:?</E></r>
If he thinks that he's going to play QB, then he's definitely confused! Kelly has already cut better QBs than him. The Irish have QBs playing WR; QBs playing LB; QBs playing DB; QBs playing all over the place!
ND <r>ND picked up another commit this evening. CJ Prosise , a 6'2" 206lb. safety from Virginia gave his verbal to the Irish. He looks great on film. Great set of wheels. run a 4.4. <E>8)</E></r>
ND <r>George, <br/> You're correct, Greenberry commited. Very nice looking WR from Fresno, CA. <E>8)</E></r>
I see Athlon picked ND #6 in its preseason rankings. On one hand it's a nice vote of confidence. On the other hand, it means nothing at this time of year.
ND <r>Actually the Greenberry kid is a <B><s></s>cousin <e></e></B>of Tee Shepard and they both had previously expressed a desire to go to the same school. He's 6'3", 180lb. rated 4 stars.<br/> <br/> Sid,<br/> <br/> I agree with you on the Athlon rating of #6. Let's just get out there on the field and keep kicking butt like the end of last season and the ranking will take care of itself. It does feel a little nicer than the preseason ranking we have had the past couple of seasons though. <E></E></r>
Well Jordan Prestwood an OL from Fla who originally gave his verbal to ND but later changed to FSU has left FSU. He said it just wasn't the place for him. He has received his release from FSU and has already contacted ND about enrolling this fall. He would not be eligible to play so we can really figure he's like a 2012 signee. If he can get his ducks in a row it will be a good pickup for the Irish.
That's great news and I hope the Irish remind all of their recruits about Florida State's lies. That's several kids, just in the last year, who got suckered and then became sorry when they found out the truth. I can't think of another situation like this. Whatever lie FSU is telling to ND recruits, it must be a duesy. :!:
ND <t>Well I hope the kid gets to ND now. We can always use another good OL. I remember being really disappointed when he de-comitted.</t>
