In a big surprise......the voters of Jacksonville proved that they do indeed have a brain and can think for themselves by electing a black Democrat over a Rick Scott clone..... Jacksonville is the most ultra conservative, redneck city in the state and yet this guy Hogan....who aligned himself with the despised Governor Scott and the basically just weird Tea Party couldn't even defeat a black Democrat who was once a Bill Clinton staffer of all things. The GOP strategists across the nation have choked on their coffee and are taking notice of this one you can be assured. Way to go Ricky......you da man!! 8) http://blogs.miaminewtimes.com/riptide/2011/05/jacksonville_elects_first_demo.php
If he works out as well as Obama has then Jacksonville will be completely destitute in about 30 months.
Most decent-sized cities have a core majority of Democratic voters IF they can get them to the polls, so I'm not surprised.
 Maybe I should have second thoughts about my granddaughter living in Jacksonville..She is very prim and proper young lady and very conservative. besides being one of the country"s best Volleyball players> So far what I hear I am not liking..hopefully the coach will do as promissed and keep a very tight reign on the girls. so they dont mingle alot with the local folks. good thing for daily chats with hr via e-mail and facebook. either that or me and grandpa joco will be making a few extra trips. or I can always send Corey. Of course all 6'1" of her is like joco, stubborn and set in her ways maybe the locals need to be wary of her/
Actually the smarter people in Jacksonville are more apt to use their best judgement and do not follow the cattle herders like Limbaugh....Fox News.....etc. But....they do tend be more on the conservative side in general.
My point George is that the smarter conservatives did not align themselves with the wrong candidate. They didn't just knee jerk the vote and I give my hometown credit for weighing the options and realizing a bad deal when they see it. And the GOP candidate Hogan standing on a podium with Rick Scott exudes bad deal.
I get it. Like the republicans winning the mid term lection because people don't trust any democrats who know Obama.
The poor approval ratings for Florida governor Scott and the Jacksonville mayoral results show that a full blown case of buyer's remorse has begun.
As opposed to the individual thinkers that watch MSNBC, watch the Daily Show SNL, and have someone read the NY Times to them?
Don't forget these guys Gip.....with all the news that's fit to print...no wait, that's another liberal rag..... Dear Gator, how you can make those accusations about the mindless right-wing lemmings whilst at the same time use this commie blog as a source for anything is mind-boggling at best.....
I'm sorry. In all this parade, I missed you listing his qualifications other than 'Black Democrat.' Reverse that criteria and we'd still have you creating a thread but of an entirely different nature.
Yeah Houston, in a conservative state and a conservative county has elected a gay white woman democrat as it's mayor..I'll have to wait for Dave to tell me what that's proof of though.
More on the favorite to be the GOP VP nominee: ": A new Quinnipiac poll finds that Florida Gov. Rick Scott’s approval rating in the Sunshine State is just 29%, with 57% disapproving (including 37% of Republicans). Ouch. How much are you willing to bet that Team Obama tries to tie Scott to the eventual GOP nominee?" 8)
Team Obama couldn't run a Little League snack bar without government help. As for Scott, I've never heard ANY Republican even mention him for VP or anything else. The only Floridian I've heard mentioned as a VP nominee is Rubio. Nobody here has ever heard of Scott...
Talk of a Florida person as a potential VP nominee ends at the Florida state line, just like current talk of Mitch Daniels as a potential VP nominee ends at the Indiana state line.
Being a little bit presumptuous BT but this guy has been mentioned before......at least until his popularity meltdown in the last 2-3 months. He also fit's the bill to a T for the conservative base of the GOP. Cut.......slash......pander....steal.....
