Thanks y'all. Tragically the death toll is up above 300 now for Alabama alone. Unbelievable, and I am very grateful that my family escaped. There are a lot of people that lost everything. There are some videos of the huge tornado in Tuscaloosa with Bryant-Denny stadium in the foreground. It came that close to the campus.
Thanks to everyone. Drove down to Pinson (just outside on Birmingham) today and there were several areas of destruction on the way. Hopefully the number of fatalities will stop climbing.
More possible trouble headed towards the Buckeyes....doesn't rain it just pours right now. Can't be a good time to be the Pres or AD there, not to mention the HC. Long hot summer in Ohio. More Trouble
 It's hard for me to comment on all this Buckeye stuff. I still can't believe it happened. All I'll say is what the reaction would be if these stories were coming out of local schools: UCLA- Every coach would have been fired months ago. The LA Times would have run 100 headlines and articles noting the similarities between Westwood and Pakistan... USC- After the coaches moved to the NFL, the school and the athletic department would have touted the achievements of its scholar-athletes in obtaining so many automobiles and benefits. The LA Times would have written 100 articles expressing amazement that players and coaches who could have become millionaires chose instead to stay in school long enough to go to a bowl game...
Gentlemen, This is actually old news in that the university had looked into this earlier last year and found no violations. They are taking a closer look now with the upcoming reply to the pending sanctions. Hopefully nothing new will be uncovered, but time will tell.
Once the NCAA is in town, they open up every thing. Believe me I know what OSU is going through and unfortunately this is probably not close to being over.
Granted I saw only a quick note about this.. but one DE had purchased a 2 year old Chrysler 300 for a purchase price of $0....??? If that's true, whoever said there's nothing to this should be fired. There's a whole dang lot of smoke here. When Alabama came under the gun, the smoke actually exceeded the fire. That isn't to say there weren't major violations, because there clearly were. However, there was more smoke than fire.. So with that said, I'll again note, there's a whole damned lot of smoke in Columbus.
No use responding to each and every story printed or broadcast from every media outlet, just too damn many re-hashing the same stuff.....we surely have a bulls-eye on our backs, much of which is self-induced for sure. As for me, I'm just gonna wait, look at the facts and find out if there is anything here....this is not a new story and as we have seen before, there have been plenty of circumstances where the amount of smoke was not indicative of the heat of the flame.....in any event, ugh! Thank God it's Volleyball season....! 8)
Question: When/Who started the tradition of putting the silver buckeye leaves on your helmets? Are there players (reserves) who have helmets without any leaves?
Could be...the NCAA may feel that way...but again, they haven't even given tOSU a hearing yet. They don't like defiance but they usually give you a chance to present your case. It'll stay bad and get worse in the media and blogosphere, but I don't particularly want them deciding our fate. Screw 'em.
Amen to that Stu....the pressure from the media frenzy will be deafening and the heat on Tressel and the admin will be brutal.....that said there is nothing new of a material nature that has come out since their strong expression of support for him at the press conference. Unless the Buckeye Nation has caved to the pressure and thus compelled the Board to cave and force Gee's hand, I don't see him going anywhere prior to the August hearings..... I don't see him butting heads with the NCAA, I see him defending his actions and explaining his thought process and the complications of the extenuating circumstances.....without question in his mind, he had grave concerns about the safety of his players - the tattoo parlor owner in question was a BAD A$$ mf'er - and that was paramount in his view and I take him at his word.....I do believe he could have found better options and thus could have exercised better judgement, but he is a proud and principled man and he believes with every fiber of his being that his actions, though flawed, had the kids best interests at heart, were not intended to gain competitive advantage and are not worthy of dismissal......it's gonna be a tough, tough time. I will continue to support him until such time as I hear new information and another line of thinking that convinces me I shouldn't....
