Money, money, money....just raining down money on college football these days. They still can do a Pac12 Network for minor/olympic sports and some football/basketball as well. They've gone from the lowest to the highest in terms of TV money. Quite a coup for them. Pac12 Deal
No doubt this a major achievement by the Pac Ten on the revenue side. My concern with all this money being paid is apt to cause more NCAA violations in a quest to be the best. Food for thought?
Don I find the timing a little odd. After all the perennial top contender in the league is about to embark on a rather serious sanction period. On the other hand, with the Trogs out the league will be more competitive.
It certainly does up the ante for all the schools to put a better product on the field. I am surprised that the Pac12 got such a good deal though, traditionally their teams don't have much of a following beyond the West Coast. But maybe that has had more to do with their TV exposure than anything else, at least lately. In the past just the fact that they were in the Pacific Time Zone was a problem for TV and of course population center was in the Midwest which is why the B10 Teams had big TV draw.
