Man....I knew UF was mostly pathetic on offense last year but check this out:

"Conversely, Florida had the worst red zone efficiency in the league and ranked 117th out of 120 teams in the Football Bowl Subdivision. The Gators scored on 41 of 58 red zone appearances. They lost their possession a league-high 13 times (eight by turnovers) and were 6-of-10 on field goal attempts in the process."

It won't take much for Chollie to improve on that performance.

Bill, with due respect for the Gip's keen sense of humor, which is one of the best I've ever known, Charlie has a great family. He and his wife are to be admired for how they are raising their kids. I won't expound on the topic. You will learn more as time passes.

    gip:

Weis' latest ND class had a total of one player drafted to the NFL. That was Kyle Rudolph and even he went a little lower than expected.

That is the epitaph he leaves behind as HC at ND; zippo player development.

That's why its important that the Gators keep him in the booth. Draw up some plays and leave the coaching to the guys who know how to coach.

Of course Clausen and Tate were in this class and left early for the NFL.

Their chapters are still to be written. Carolina didn't draft Cam Newton #1 because they are thrilled with Clausen and Tate played sparingly for a mediocre team.

I do think Tate has a chance to play well in the NFL though.

First thing that came to mind when Newton went first was......there goes Clausen.

That and I guess his pappy is happy now with a tad more than 180K.

You know that whole story may not be over, but I wonder if Cam's dad realizes how close he came to causing his son to not even have a football career?

    Slight Thread hijak...

    George.

Saw some stuff on one of the Harmon boys (Butch's brother Craig to be specific) He winters at the McArthur Golf Club at Hobe Sound. Is that where you play when you are in Hobe?

Never played it. I live on the 4th tee at Heritage Ridge GC in Hobe Sound I play there mainly and sometimes I even pay green fees

I also play Evergreen in Palm City and Champions Club in Stuart a lot. I have a fishing buddy down there who is the head greenskeeper at Martin Downs and he finagled my brother in law and myself onto The Medalist in Hobe which is Greg Norman's club. I tore it up; shot a 111 and needed therapy for battle fatigue when I was done. Toughest course I ever played. Or was it the beer?

Sid, I think we have already found out some of the things you are talking about. In the first place he's at Florida because of his son and some things that happened with his daughter in KC that led them to believe they would be better off raising her elsewhere and I think mother and daughter are in S. Bend and Charlie and his son are in Gainesville.

Also they have bought a horse ranch in Ocala.

I have been reading Charlies book Terry sent me when I go to doctors offices, one more visit and I will be done. :) I am pretty impressed with how he rose up the coaching ranks and his attitude toward his family.

I continue to think we hit the jackpot with Charlie.
