"No matter I think Nebraska is going to make the Big 10 a much better conference."

    This I agree with.

Adding a team that is at least on a par with Penn State is a pretty good addition.

I think that across the board the Big 12 has made great strides in recent seasons while OU and Texas have been among the nation's best for years.

With the adddition of Big Red the Big 10 definitely upgrades the overall level of schedule toughness in the Big 10 but only Ohio State has played at elite levels over the past few seasons so I'll say tie between the two conferences now that Nebraska has come over.

Going back to the 1990 season, members of the Big(8)12/SWC have won 6 National Championships.

As of this season, Nebraska (3) and Colorado (1) will be playing in other conferences. It leaves you with Texas and Oklahoma.....

The last 10 years It has been mostly OU-Texas at the top of the Big 12 heap and mattering on the national scale.

Nebraska as I say.....even given their recent mediocre 10 year history is still a great addition to the Big Ten and definitely adds a heavyweight program to the conference schedule.

By themselves alone the Huskers are a noticeable upgrade to the Big 10.

god dammit, you're going to make me do this..

it's not like you've had a lot of luck beating Michigan either....

The BigWhateverthehelltheyarenow is a deeper conference than people realize. I think in recent years they've been hammered because their top shelf teams have shown poorly in the title shots/bcs games they've been in.

I agree that Nebraska is marquis, but it's not like Colorado couldn't be good again. Any time I see them wanting to tap back into the McCriminal era, I get a bit worried. They're doing that again.

Texas A&M should and will be again legit, but who else in the Big12-2 strikes fear in ya? Texas Tech has gone backward. Okie State? Riiiight.. Baylor?

But if you want to start putting stock in bowl performance, then I am still (6 years and running) waiting for your heaping praise on the Mountain West.

Michigan's win over a Florida team with a bad defense in 2007 was probably the Wolverines best win since......and beating that Florida team ain't sayin much just like beating the 2010 Florida team ain't sayin much either. ( hear that SouCar and FSU fans?? ) 8)
'07 Florida was as bad on defense as was the '10 Gator team bad on offense.

So....since the Wolverines haven't done squat since it is hard for me to include them in a group that makes the 2011 Big 10 a better conference.

But.....I do think Michigan will be better under Hoke and can be good enough to play in a bowl this season and do much better than they did last year in the Gator Bowl blowout loss to MSU........maybe even winning a bowl game this year if they play Florida......whom they do seem to be able to beat you might add....

Corey, I think you are selling Oklahoma State short. They have been playing good football for several years.

But there is no doubt in my mind that the loss of Nebraska hurt the power of that conference and helped the Big 10.

Disingenuous Dave outta be your handle. They hired DickRod the next year and we all know what a great job he did there at Michigan.

Michigan had great success against the SEC prior to DickRod and I look for them to return to it now that he's gone.

    Bill,

You make a good point that they've played exciting offensive football for a few years now. I just don't see how that makes them any different then say.. the WAC?
