Donald Trump.......a guy who twice took advantage of the business loophole of bankruptcy......stiffing his creditors of millions....( and most likely costing the jobs of many of those suppliers in the process )......and a guy who now says he has 600 million of his own dough to put toward a run for president.

Yeah.....I'd be proud of this guy and his attacks on Obama's character if I were a conservative.

Typical crap......it might be within the law what he did but it is morally corrupt. Hey.....I've seen this movie!!!! 8)

Henry Ford, Walt Disney, and HJ Heinz are just some of the successful businessmen in this country that had businesses that went bankrupt. In the end these men created companies that have employed millions of Americans.
Question: how many jobs did Obama created when he was in the private sector? Ans. not one f'n one.
Oh and Jefferson when he left the White House was $20,000 in debt (millions in todays dollars). Just another morally corrupt individual that you in your wisdom could never vote for.

    Synonymous to be sure.

I'd be interested to know how many millions those guys stiffed their creditors for.......twice.

This is too rich to withhold comment......in the last two years both General Motors and Chrysler have filed for bankruptcy - but that was Bush's fault. You would lead everyone to believe that they were the essence of corporate citizens and the pillars of US industry and would have continued in that exalted position until Bush F'ed them up.....of course.

But now Trump has an interest in some companies that file for bankruptcy and now it's those company's "stiffing his creditors of millions" and "costing the jobs of suppliers in the process" and your trumpeting this President as a paragon of virtue in comparison......absolutely extraordinary......

    MCG,

I hope you're not comparing that media creation we have for a president to Donald Trump? Obama couldn't run a lemonade stand in your front yard.

Whether Trump would make a good president and statesman is certainly up to debate and I have my doubts, but he has more proven managerial and business talent in his little finger than Obama could envision in his wildest dreams.

    Dave,

If you want to talk about stiffing people.. Ford f*cked over ENTIRE STATES and regions.. We're not talking about a few thousand. We're talking about sticking his wang in the pooper of destiny that altered the course of American history....

Any time people whine about the loss of the 'motor city', I just laugh. It never should have been. I could give this lecture again, but why bother. You're not paying attention.

    re: bankrupt businessman/politician

    Harry Truman

Apparently the only people who should be president are those with no known qualifications at all...

BTW- wouldn't you need a real Social Security number to own/operate a business?

    re: Trump

I don't know any Republicans who're planning to vote for him, but he is a lot of fun. Like Sara Palin, he sends Democrats into hissy fits every time he opens his mouth and he keeps the discussion of our Manchurian President alive...

I wouldn't rule anything out at this point. The Republicans may be in the process of screwing up yet another sure thing. Boehner looks like the great capitulator.

Are there any GOP candidates who excite you at this point?

Trump may have a puncher's chance simply because he's not a politician.

Almost forgot about Palin. I guess that SNL, Lettermen and the other left tools will start ridiculing Trump now. He's just like them an asshole with a TV show.
That's so true and so predictable.

Trump knows something about business and a lot about self-promotion. In the political arena he comes across to me as a clown.

Yeah I can not see Trump in the political arena or holding any kind of office. He's a guy who demands 100% control and if you don't give him what he wants then YOUR FIRED

That doesn't work in politics today, not to mention that the media will crucify him for every thing he's ever done.

    Uh.....how so?.....when?........what words?.....

Ford stiffed people???.....they go bankrupt??? I didn't hear of that one.

These responses reek of what lies at the root of our ills in this country.

You may not like Trump.....may not trust him.....probably wouldn't vote for him.....but by God.....he says he comes from the right so you defend him to the hilt no matter what.

    Geezus we're in trouble.

    Dave,
I never understand a single thing that you write. Not one person here defended Trump. Not one. It's like you're debating with yourself. You simply assume that you know what everyone else believes, then you set up a series of easy arguments to win, and then you win them. If any contrary fact emerges; you simply ignore it. If a counter-argument appears that you didn't create, then you pretend that you didn't see it and continue on, arguing against your original assumptions as if nothing had happened, and knocking over straw men one-by-one.

Tell you what I'm going to do. Since I'd like to see you succeed, I'm going to give you a crib sheet. Here is a list of all the smelly bait, traps, and clearly labeled talking points from the previous posts that the other posters left for you to elaborate on:
    - morally corrupt
    - lemonade stand
    - Manchurian President
    - asshole with a TV show
    - clown
    - demands 100% control

Go ahead and pick one out. That's what the other guys were arguing while you were re-reading your old posts...

"Henry Ford, Walt Disney, and HJ Heinz are just some of the successful businessmen in this country that had businesses that went bankrupt. In the end these men created companies that have employed millions of Americans."

I thought this was stated to show how comparable Trump was to those industry giants.

"Obama couldn't run a lemonade stand in your front yard."

    Stated about Obama........not Trump......different debate.

"Ford f*cked over ENTIRE STATES and regions"

Don't get that one.......GM and Chrysler......yes they did although all three have squeezed the financial life out of many a supplier.....and quite ruthlously I might add.

"but he is a lot of fun. Like Sara Palin, he sends Democrats into hissy fits every time he opens his mouth"

    Fun?......he should be an embarrassment......

"Trump has an interest in some companies that file for bankruptcy and now it's those company's "stiffing his creditors of millions"

I need clarification.....I thought Trump was much more involved in his corporate bankruptcies ( Taj Mahal?) than this statement suggests.

But otherwise......maybe he doesn't get quite the endorsement that my quick glance suggested so I agree......I'll rest my case on this for now.

OK let's do this slowly. Trump, Ford, Heinz, Disney and thousands of other individuals during our country's history have been entrepreneurs. By it's very definition an entrepreneur is a risk taker. He is one who chooses not to just live working as an employee for some other risk taker but puts his time, energy, and resources into creating a new business concern. Because it has an element of risk he doesn't always succeed. A narrow minded grunt to the grindstone for others individual would equate his failure with "moral bankruptcy." In fact that failure is nothing more than a lesson in misdirection of effort and leads to future success.
My post was not meant to hold Trump in the same light of capitalistic success as the other 3. It was to point out that your premise that bankrupcy = moral corruption is wrong.
As opposed to what? You thinking everyone on the right is evil or "morally corrupt?"

It's more the second bankruptcy that is of question to me Gipper.

Is it an unfortunate turn of events......or is it a more heinous strategy of
"hey......it saved my butt the first time so why not a second" ....

No lessons learned the first time except you get out of messy debt....screw your creditors.....preserve your cash....and then move on to fabulous riches at the expense of others?

Hey......I am in sales myself and I am certain there are several....many.....in my profession who were left holding their company's bag after being told that Trump's debt to them had been relieved by the courts.

10 cents on the dollar probably meant a loss of commissions and/or loss of job.

    Very nice.....

You do know that the typical bankruptcy is hardly a rich guys trying to screw over his creditors. It's more likely to a middle class guy overextended screwing his creditors.

Actually the company Trump ran until he quit just before the filing filed bankruptcy yet a third time:

    http://www.legalzoom.com/lawsuits-settlements/more-litigation/donald-trumps-casino-company-files

    Terry....what's the comparison?

Millions or billions owed by The Donald's companies vs. the unsuspecting homeowner who buys into the top of the market only to get slammed by unscrupulous dealings on Wall Street......and who may be carrying credit card debt up the wazoo with predatory 29.99% interest rates set before the Credit Card reform act protected the average American from such heinous practices?
