I don't remember a sitting President ever announcing that so soon? Naturally everybody assumes it, but usually the offical announcement comes much closer to the Nat'l Convention. Am I right?
I guess he figures he won't be able to finish the demolition of our country in one term. At this point its inconceivable that he could be re-elected. There is no money to buy votes with entitlement promises and such so he may be out of political ammo.
The question needs to be asked......Who can the Republicans provide with enough broad-based support to beat him?
 Obomber has announced early for two reasons: 1. To reach his stated fund raising goal of $1 billion. 2. To head off Hillary Clinton who's approval rating has risen to 66% among all Americans and is now twice as popular as the president among Democrats.
Who can the GOP trot out there with broad based appeal is a damned good question considering how badly GOP governors are pissing off police, firemen and teachers.
I think it's the crux of the whole matter. Last time Romney and Huckabee sort of divided the votes of the conservative preventing either from gaining enough traction to head off John McLain. I think in the end Romney would have been a stronger candidate than McLain in the general election, just my opinon. We will have many candidates vying for the spot, all of them with some flaw that the liberal media will harp on and harp on and force them to defend things that really aren't germaine.
For the record I do believe Obama will be re-elected. I think the Republicans and the "Tea" party will have a hard time providing a candidate the motivates and mobilizes not only the base but the independents. I hope I'm wrong, but that's what I see right now. I remember 1994 when Clinton was severely rebuked by the voting public but the Republicans could not capitalize on it because the candidate, a good man and a war hero, was able to be trivalized by Clinton and Gore and the Democrats as old and out of touch. They did the Macarina, had hip slogans, etc. Bob Dole was humourless and sour in appearance and not an especially compelling public speaker either.
After the police, the fire department, teachers, public sector workers of all kinds and the elderly get hacked at them who is going to be left in the GOP base? A few crazed fundamentalists.....some naive, rural rednecks....a few bankers, a smattering of lawyers and some small business owners and Middle Eastern gas station/party store owners?? 8) Sorry if I offend in my humorous attempt above but seriously......the GOP seems to be alienating a lot of voters IMHO. The 100 richest and most powerful business owners in America could all be GOP tried and true ( I mean....who else is looking after their personal fortune?? ) but collectively they could be out voted by the Lake City, Florida Fire Department.....
First of all elderly? Once the Dems stole money from Medicare they lost the majority of the elderly. The Obama health care system with its concern for expenditures on the elderly (real or imagined death panels) also is a big concern. As to the police, fire, teachers and public sector workers, the folks who've been seeing them getting along with no suffering while the average taxpayer in the private sector keeps getting hosed has had it with them. The economy still sucks and almost every idiot who was blaming Bush has awakened to the fact that Obama has about as much of a clue about what to do as he has a birth certificate.
Well guess what? Anybody who tries to have an adult conversation about this country's fiscal realities is going to alienate a lot of voters. Gloat about it if you want...and your party can keep buying votes...with your grand kids' chance at a future.
 - Most of the elderly vote Republican. - Most police and firefighters vote Republican. - Nearly 40% of all teachers vote Republican and we're not too happy about being forced to join unions which spend 100% of our union dues to elect left-wing nut cases. - Most small business owners vote Republican, because they pay most of the taxes.
Democrats have the entitlement recipients locked up and, of course, as many illegals/unregistereds as they can bus to the polls. And nobody can command the "deceased" vote like the Dems. They are the unrivaled masters at voter fraud and manipulation.
They were swept into power in November as a result of too much government, out of control federal spending and fiscal deficit trends akin to a banana republic and they promised to find a solution and address the problem. Obama's shocking lack of leadership displayed by his "kick the can down the road" budget, lack of any solutions and complete disregard for his own deficit commission's recommendations only reinforces the issues that drove the Dems out of office....he may well be re-elected, but it's become clear that he's going to have to play by somebody else's rules from last November onward.......
I'm not suprised that Obama has shown no leadership.... he had no experience in any leadership capacity in his life so how could a concscious voting public have expected anything else? He is a complete creation of the media.... nothing more. Need more proof? He's turning to the "Reverend" Al for help. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/pol...s_to_al_for_help_in_12_run.html#ixzz1IkQtTbWY
AS you suggest Krebsie, we have unfortunately become a nation whose electorate finds the ability to read a teleprompter vastly more important than the ability to lead and/or put together an executive team that can identify and implement sound policy decisions....the incumbent is a classic example in that regard. The fact that his proposed budget neither acted on any of HIS bi-partisan deficit reduction commission recommendations nor showed any credible effort to address a structural deficit problem that, if left unresolved, can and will bring down the house should make it shockingly evident to any serious observer that he is completely unsuited for the position..... His budget adds at least $1 TRILLION to the national debt annually(?) and doubles the amount of federal debt outstanding in just ten years. It has gotten so bad even NPR is waving the ******** flag..... http://www.npr.org/blogs/itsallpoli...eads-on-budget-national-debt-claim-politifact
While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old rancher, who's hand was caught in the gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually, the topic got around to Barak Obama and his bid to be re-elected as President. The old rancher said, 'Well, ya know, he's a 'Post Turtle''. Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a 'post turtle' was. The old rancher said, 'When you're driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a 'post turtle'. The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor's face so he continued to explain. 'You know he didn't get up there by himself, he doesn't belong up there, and he doesn't know what to do while he's up there, and you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put him up there to begin with.'
