This is probably only the tip of the iceberg! We have become a sports oriented society and greed leads to all sorts of problems.

Before anyone starts throwing stones, beware because someone is going to be bitten in the ass!

Sorry for my choice of words, but I am very disgusted and this is not a good way to start the day.

Lovely....let's get the facts on the table and deal with them as necessary.

As it relates to recruiting visits....

    1) Do I believe that recruits go to parties during official visits? Yes
    2) Do I believe that there are young women present at these parties? Yes
    3) Do I believe that there are young women who are attracted to young football studs? Yes
    4) Do I believe that these young women and young football studs at times engage in sexual activity during official visits? Yes
    5) Do I believe that these young women offer their services to these young football studs at the behest and request of the University? Absolutely not.....

Yeah virtually all of the stuff that goes on is funded and run by overzealous boosters. Gary Barnett was fired over recruits going to parties where prostitutes were paid to attend and have sex with recruits. He said he knew nothing about it of course and he probably told somebody, I don't want to know the details but you guys make sure those recruits have a "wink" really good time.

Even in tattoogate it wasn't JT who sent those kids to the parlor.

I have no doubt that there are working girls who ply their trade with young recruits.....I would however also suggest that there are a number of young ladies of the non-professional type who have also engaged in such activity just because they wanted to.....

College aged kids do engage in sexual activity at parties more often than not without getting paid.....at least they did when I was in school and I daresay - not to belittle my own magnetic personality, overwhelming physical presence and animal charms - that young football studs typically have had a few more names on their dance card than did I at my best.....

BT, the article was more about money exchanging hands, what is your thought about that?

I have no doubt that it happens frequently. It's against the rules and where it is evidenced that there is institutional complicity, the hammer needs to come down on the institution. Where there is no evidence of institutional involvement and the institution has complied with their duty to educate boosters, players and staff, the booster needs to be banned from any official involvement and events and the player should be sanctioned harshly.....what are your thoughts?

Some of the Purdue List guys posted that last night...to diss Ohio State with the sex and money thing.

So having already had a great week losing Gerry, losing 4 times in the men's and women's tournaments, possibly losing Tressel, and now probably losing Painter, I went ahead and read the article and then googled the main character...that Stanley Whatshisname guy. My God, what a dirtball.

Most of his allegations (at least those of "money handshakes") were being refuted by his fellow players and recruits. I am just SO glad he decommited from Ohio State.

Yeah this looks bad and it probably is, but on the other hand, these 4 individuals probably do have axes to grind. I am sure that boosters do these things and I am also sure that in most cases the coaches don't condone nor even know about specific cases. What can they do to stop it? The term "booster" can apply to every college football fan in the country. How do you keep them away from recruits or players? I would venture to say these "handshakes" occur at every big time school in the country and probably a scaled down version at Div II and III schools. Now if it can be established that the school is complicit in these handshakes, as in the incident in the tv segment cited, that is another matter, but at this point that is just a story. :?

I'm not surprised that they would deny knowledge. I'm sure most iof his teammates have no desire to have their careers diminished by allegations like these, even if true.

About the same, the only problem comes in is when the institution may know it's going on but does nothing about it. Which I suspect may happen more than we like to admit.

I believe that these guys are playing the media. I'm not naive. I'm sure it happens.....but there's something fishy about their stories. I can't put my finger on it. It just doesn't sound credible.

axes to grind does not make a person's story or tale less relevant.

A whore who is witness to a crime is not blinded by the fact she's a whore, yet we often let these things get in the way.

We live in a society in which we're screened for employment based upon the contents of our urine, rather than our character.

Unless we address the hypocrisy of ourselves at the root, these things will just continue on and on and on.

In the interim, I'm popping popcorn.. I love a good wreck.
