Don I agree. Terry, I am surprised at Florida being a number 2. However the old crap about Kentucky beating us twice and that means they should be seeded higher than the Gators doesn't hold water. Florida was 13-3 in the SEC during the regular season and as I recall Kentucky was 10-6. We swept Georgia, Tenn and Vandy who are all in the Tourney also. I don't think Kentucky swept any of those teams. Perhaps the Gators are a spot to high, but I don't feel for Kentucky. I'm kind of like JO'Co and also feel like ESPN turned into a bitch session and sitting behind a mike on stage doesn't make them more knowledgable than the committee who made the decisions. I'll enjoy all the games I can watch even if the ESPN talking heads don't. Unfortunately I will miss the opening Gator game because it's bowling night, but I already have it set to DVR.
Interesting article in NY Times today about officiating in NCAA games. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/17/sports/ncaabasketball/1
Does anyone think expanding this years field to 68 teams has any real benefit? Granted Clemson may have been rewarded, but that is about all I see.
Well everybody (ESPN) griped about VCU getting an invite and they went out and beat a big Conference team in USC. I'm not really for it though, doesn't really change the griping. If they were to do anything then going to 96 teams would make more sense along with eliminating the Conference tournaments.
Well as bad as yesterday was for me....curse you Rick Pitino, curse you Steve Lavin.....I ended up with 12 out of 16 only 2 behind the leaders! There is still hope that the carnage to my bracket is done...maybe!
Well Texas and Notre Dame made it through to the Round of 32. Irish looked ok, not great, not bad. Ben Hansborough still looks out of synch with his offense, but he worked his butt off on defense today. That 7'0 guy in the middle sort of hurt our inside game.
Terry you can curse Pitino..huge upset. Johnnies and Gonzaga a virtual pickem. St. John minus 1 1/2. Gonzaga had too many big men controlling the rim. I did'nt see this blow out.
Buckeyes advance to meet George Mason Sunday in Cleveland. Could be an interesting game. William Buford was the difference maker in this game. Ohio State's 26 assists in the game set a NCCA Record
jif, We will have to get by Kentucky first! (Grin Buckeyes put on quite a shooting exhibition today. 16 of 26 treys and shot 61% both from field goal range and three point treys. Arron Craft had 15 assists.
Texas goes down to Az, Sean Miller really has revived that program. I'm sure there will be questions about the no calls on the last play of the game but it is what it is and we are done again. Congrats to BearDownRick and his Wildcats!
Irish in Big trouble with FSU, FSU known for great defense is shooting lights out as well....we're down big right now.
According to the talking heads on ESPN VCU did not belong in this tournament, now they are in the Sweet 16.
I thought about that last night, Bill. I watched the segment in which they bashed the selection committee. I wonder how Jay Bilas and Dick Vitale are going to cover their butts on this one.
