Irish escape Providence with the win 94-93...I assume that Brey was not using the "burn" offense tonight! The Friars had a guy go nuts and score 52 points, but they couldn't stop the Irish scores either...so we out scored them in the end. Road win=Good Win..even if fugly!
I've decided I want Gunner Kiel to be the QB in the class of 2012, solid ND connections through is Uncle Blair, two brothers who played QB And with a name like Gunner even Huskerman will be on our side!!
ND <r>Terry,<br/> <QUOTE><s> </e></QUOTE> <br/> I want this kid too. Looks like a winner. Videos I've seen are super. I'm hoping they can get a commit from him soon. <E>8)</E></r>
QB <t>Interesting one of the other QB's who has been assumed would favor ND due to his connection with Brian Kelly through his brother at Cincy is Maty Mauk. However for some reason there is a growing "anti" Mauk group on the net. He has ridiculous numbers, but currently his known other offers are not nearly as imnpressive as Kiel. He does have a Michigan offer along with the ND offer the others are a tier down. Kiel supposedly has offers from Alabama, ND, Tenn, UGA, Fla, Stanford, LSU, and a bunch of others.<br/> <br/> Kiel is bigger and I like bigger QB's, Kiel is mobile without being fast so you wouldn't call him an "athletic' QB, but he can hurt you with his legs...won't make you forget Vince Young, Pat White, Cam Newton, Michael Vick, etc. <br/> <br/> Anyway I like Kiel. I am just fine with Mauk if he commits first, he's a coaches son who is a gym rat type of kid and supposedly has a very high Football IQ...actually sounds a lot like your boy Tommy Reese. <br/> <br/> We've also offered a kid named Winston from Alabama but I think it will snow in Birmingham in July before that kid leaves SEC country. There is a kid from Colorado who I can't think of right now also supposedly has an offer. <br/> <br/> For the most part the top QB's commit earlier than Defensive players and skill players on offense. So I expect we'll know by June who will be the QB in this class. There is a kid from Houston who plays qb in HS who also has an offer but is being recruited as an athlete.</t>
Big Big Win for the Irish Men tonight on Senior Night. Hansborough goes out with an incredible night, all the Sr's played great and they just blew out a decent Villanova team. Abromatis and Hansborough both shot the lights out from 3 pt land, both had 30 points. They ran the floor well, played good defense, passed the ball well....everything went right tonight. Even the Walk-on got a basket tonight in garbage time. Ladies are in a battle at DePaul right now.
84-6 at home the last five years. Winningest Sr. Class in ND history...wish they had more to show for it, but then they aren't done yet!!
Ladies lost to DePaul at the Buzzer 70-69... Finish tied with them for 2nd place in the Big East. Now have 5 days to get ready for the BET, they have a bye through to the Quarter Finals. Good season for the Irish Womens teams, only 6 losses all to ranked teams. UCLA, Kentucky, Baylor, UConn twice) and DePaul. Only in the 2nd UConn loss were they clearly out played.
Irish Football picks up it's first verbal, a highly rated CB out of California (Fresno). I wonder if we've ever had a player from the Central Valley? Tee Shepard! Come on down! Welcome to ND. CB's are a big need for the 2012 class. BTW he committed without ever visiting the ND campus. He'll be in for the Spring Game though.
ND <t>Terry,<br/> <br/> The Shepard kid looks to be a real good get. After this past recruiting season let's just say that as of today he says he will be committing to ND next Feb.</t>
You get the feeling that the Irish are back. We are going to be very good this year and the cupboard is filling fast with top talent.
ND <r>Well the Shepard kid is from the west coast so I'll bet JO'Co will be able to give us the scoop on him. <E>8)</E> Looks like he had some big time offers other than ND to chose from.</r>
As our first recruit for 2012, Tee Shepard is indeed a big start. Not always easy to get elite kids out of sunny California. Nice job by Kelly et.al.
8) Terry's right. There is no California above Bakersfield. I think Fresno is where the farmers grow all the dope that the Commies smoke in Frisco...
Jo'Co..LOL.. This makes it all the more significant that the Irish will rescue this kid from that pernicious environment
Irish recieved a verbal from Ohio OL Taylor Decker. He is apparently a kid with a lot of upside but is very raw right now, will take a few years to develope. While naturally I'd like for all our guys to be 4 and 5 star guys, you need kids with a lot of raw ability who they can develope as well. That apparently is Decker. So I don't expect so see him contribute on the field till he's a Jr. Some are saying he's like Tate Nichols. Brian Kelly says one of his strengths is developing kids, in all of his old jobs he never saw 4 star players a 3 star was a luxury. I hope he's right! Also today the Irish men finish an excellent basketball season, one of the top 5 in Irish history records wise, at UConn. It'll will be tough to win there, but it would be a sweet way to end the regular season. This has of course been Brey's best season by a long shot. He's had team's that made the top 10 before but they usually don't finish the season in the top 10. He's had teams that had excellent 4 year seniors, Matt Carroll and that bunch come to mind. But they had a hard time doing much in the BE Tourney and the NCAA. Hopefully they do well in the BET and make at least a Sweet 16 run in the NCAA's. Somebody posted that John Wodden didn't win much till he'd been at UCLA for 15 years, maybe Brey is just now hitting his stride at ND.
Irish hoops <t>Nice win for ND today at UCONN with Hansbrough out for the last 8 min on fouls. <br/> <br/> Starting to believe thay might do something in this years NCAA tournament.</t>
