Irish not in the top 25. Texas barely makes Top 25. Pretty embarassing to be either Pitt or Iowa, IMHO. At one time I thought Ferrentz was a good coach/ethical coach. But after so many of his players ended up in the hospital recently, and now this revelation of the character of his players. I don't think I would want my son involved with him or the Iowa program. Shocking about Penn State, I thought JoePa was all about character. And Boise State? What kind of program are they running there? Crime in Football
Ferentz stock is dropping like a rock.... I'm curious as to what the "overall" percentage of college players to have police records as compared to those of top 25 teams and to be fair, comparing one with a police record for felony assault -v- jaywalking or some such is not quite the same, but this table makes no such distinction. I'm certain that the choir boys that we recruit would pale in comparison to those other thug filled cesspools of felons to be!
Please.....Texas not in the top 5? Guess those Whorn's pockets go pretty deep. Straight to the Policeman's Ball no doubt.
Interesting to see Boise State and Penn State so high. Then a four way tie at number 11 with Florida and Ohio State as two of the four. Also what we don't know is how much of a factor of the police attitudes toward football players are in the various communities. Are they brushed aside in some communities but not others. Meaning booked or handled quietly? It's along the lines of what AJ said in the post above.
I bought SI just for this article. Seemed like very haphazard research and a very wide range of "crimes". I wonder what the numbers are like for the general student population? Or the general population? No context. Just the 2010 preseason top 25. What should a school do with this information? Not offer a scholarship to a kid with a high school alcohol incident? They didn't seem to put much effort into this one.
