    Unconfirmed reports that Prestwood may be ready to cut bait at FSU after only two weeks of class.

    This recruiting soap opera is really childish. Wait a minute, these players ARE children!

    Yeah that rumor seems to be everywhere. If true, I can't imagine why. I mean it's close to home, he had friends there, he made many trips there, they haven't changed the staff, it's the same guys who recruited him. Right now they are most likely just doing off season conditioning.

    I just don't get it. I could understand it a little if after the spring he found himself buried on the depth chart and he expected to be in the mix for a starting job or something like that. Or even that he found out that he hated his position coach after working with him for a Spring. We had a kid, Spencer Boyd, who was an EE and he quit and moved back home to go to USF, I think he at least lasted till the early fall. He supposedly had some family issues, I forget, and ND is a long way from home.

    I'm seeing reports that the CB from Texas, Okatcha, who is close friends with Cam McDaniel is visiting Oklahoma this weekend. He's been very quiet and even though he visited ND just last weekend he was very tight lipped about his visit.

    I'd hate to lose him.

    I just don't get it though with Huggins. He lives in Jackson goes to coaches house in morning then they drive up to school each day in Jersey City St Peter's. Why didn't he stay at a local high school if his end all choice was Rutgers. Thought at least he would go to UNC somewhere at least that has a campus!

    Like someone getting their Dr degree and then becoming a chiropractor...

    I think for Huggins it was all about the offense that Schiano runs and some how they convinced him that RU was on the rise.

    Aaron Lynch returned to the fold after he discovered that the FSU coaches had been "lying" to him. Now Prestwood has discovered the same thing. I detect a trend here...

    I would expect the 'lying' thing to not come up till after he'd been on the field and something that was promised, like say he was going to play OT and they decided he's a OG or want him to try playing center, stuff like this.

    Right now I can't imagine what promises they could have broken...well unless they promised him 72 Virgins. :roll:

    re: lies

    Nobody knows. All we know for sure is that there's something suspicious here. It may be nothing at all, but right now, it's got me wondering what lies were told to these kids too. The story is simple: Aaron Lynch committed to Notre Dame and said it was his dream school and grandpa wanted his ashes spread over the field etc. Then out of the clear, blue sky, he decommits to Florida State, along with a five-star OL named Prestwood, who had also committed to the Irish. So far, the story is routine. Poaching happens all the time and everybody does it; no problem. The rumor, however, is that the FSU coaches told both kids that they weren't smart enough to survive academically at Notre Dame...

    Where the story gets interesting, is when Aaron Lynch and his mother furiously decommit from FSU, accusing the coaches of "lying" to them and reopen the recruiting process with ZERO possibility of ever attending FSU! Now that's different. Lynch eventually decides to return to his Notre Dame commitment and enters school early as he had originally planned. Now there's more news that the other boy, Prestwood, after accepting FSU's offer and entering school early is unhappy after only two weeks of school and considering a transfer. Did they lie to him too?

    This story isn't about Notre Dame; it's about Florida State. None of the other kids who decommitted from Notre Dame are unhappy with the schools that they chose. We haven't heard even a small complaint from one of them. So what in the world is going on at FSU? What are they saying or promising that's so obviously false that kids realize it as soon as they stick their head in the door? Whatever it is, it's something that they can't deliver and the new recruits discover it immediately.

    RE: FSU

    They are suddenly and almost irrationally cleaning up in Florida recruiting.

    Not to say they were ever too far back.....but in the last several years it has been a struggle for them comparatively speaking.

    I understand that tentative nature of Blobbah's departure time held them back some but it is quite a turnaround for the new regime and it could make one wonder just what is so good about the program now that wasn't there before.

    I really thought Niklas would end up at USC. That's a big plus for this class.

    BTW when they showed his highlights it was vs a Team with red uniforms and Michigan style helmets, is that Mater Dei?

    Excellent class, as always could have used a few more kids, would have been nice to hold on to the CB from Texas who flipped to OU. Also would have been nice to have gotten another OL. But you can't get them all. I have to give Kelly a shout out, a pat on the back, a atta boy, etc. He had a rough first year but righted the ship and finished strong on the field and off the field.

    I get the feeling that at least one of the DEs we signed might just end up on the OL. Might result in some pretty fierce competition.

    Yeah there has been a lot of chatter that Carrico and Hounshell could both end up on the OL along with Tony Springman.

    ND

    <t>Well I guess the ND fans can agree on one thing, we ended up with a great class and piked up some elite players at key positions. Very nice. As Terry already said, Kelly and his staff have proven they can do this thing on a national level very well. They probably did a lot of learning this season but they figured it out and did well. <br/>
    <br/>
    Obviously the key is for Kelly to recruit like this consistently and we will be right back in some of those big BCS games and maybe a shot at the NT now and then. <br/>
    <br/>
    I put off looking at a lot of the players videos this season cause I didn't want to be disappointed if we didn't get them in the end. Looked at a lot of videos today of players like Councell, Tuitt, Williams, Rabasa, Lynch, Niklas and MAN we have some monsters. Scary young men!!! Should make up the heart of a great defense over the next couple of years!</t>

    I'm with you Tim. Especially where Ben Councell is concerned. He is my dark horse of this class. You cannot coach size or speed, and a 6'5" LB who runs a 4.4 doesn't come around very often. Even if he packs on 20 lbs of muscle it'll only slow him down a tick. I really think this kid will be a beast.
