Today's LA Times showed how 12Pac recruiting is going. Sarkisian is building a monster up there in Seattle and he has 23 verbals. Oregon, USC and Cal are bringing in loads of talent and Wazzoo is finally getting some kids in there too.

All the way down at the bottom of the list is UCLA with only 9 verbals going into the final week of recruiting. The Bruins have lost players that they wanted (even 3-stars) to UW, Cal, USC and Oregon just in the last month. With the departure of most of their coaches, including Norm Chow, this story can't end well. They have exactly ONE big-time recruit, Brett Hundley of Arizona, whom they call "The Savior." Its going to take more than one skinny QB to save Skippy Neuheisel this time...

I really thought he would be successful when he went to UCLA.

    But I guess not.

Everybody thought that he would succeed at his alma mater, but it just hasn't happened. Furthermore, the elephant in the room is that UCLA is the first place where he has been the head coach without cheating and so far, he hasn't been able to win that way. He simply may not know how to win honestly...

I have never liked Slick Rick. Sorry for UCLA fans, but I'm not sorry for Slick Rick.

Signing Day for UCLA was a total disaster. The Bruins signed a 50th ranked class of 16 players...eight of whom no one has ever heard of. The Bruins still don't have a D-coordinator and other spots on the coaching staff remain empty as well. Lots of horror stories here, but the bottom line is that they should have pulled the plug on Slicky Ricky a long time ago...

The big winners out here on Signing Day were USC and Oregon...

One of UCLA's new recruits is QB Jerry Neuheisel from Loyola HS...

    Tough times in Westwood.

I sure wish we'd been able to get Anthony Barr to see the light with regards to UCLA, but he was best friends with the Neuheisel kid at Loyola and the way things were going for Charlie didn't help.

I missed Pat Haden even more when he was living with the McKays and got talked into going to USC...

Yup Haden at ND and not USC would have saved Ara a few losses to USC. Pat was a great college QB. Thiesman Sr. Year as QB was in 1970 I believe, He would have overlapped some with Tom Clements..but as good a college QB as Clements was Haden was better.
