Well have you guys been following the "Battle Royal" between ND and FSU for Aaron Lynch. He's the kid who committed, came to ND and spread his Grandfathers ashes on the campus because gramps was such a ND fan. Then decided he wanted to go to FSU and stay closer to home, and the FSU guys convinced him that their 4-3 defense was the best fit for him and that ND academics were too tough for him. To add fuel to that fire, ND grad Greg Hudson lead the charge for FSU in convincing him he couldn't make it at ND academically. OK fast forward, FSU is also recruiting other guys at his spot, and I guess they told him he was the man at DE. So he reopens his recruiting, FSU tries to save the situation, but somehow pisses off his MOM and she now says he'll never go to FSU. He does have visit to ND this week and he wants to be an early enrollee so he'll have to make up his mind very soon as classes start next week at ND. Then there is Ishaq Williams who was supposedly down to ND, PSU, and Syracuse. He supposedly had such a great time at 'Cuse on his visit that many thought that given his parents are both Syracuse grads that he would chose them over ND. But wait just a minute, now PSU seems to be the team now that it's certain JoePa is staying, that Tom Bradley is staying and that Larry Johnson Sr. is staying. Well at least for this year, Joe has no contract for 2012. Oh yeah there is Savon Huggins, who didn't really look very good in his All-Star game appearnce and who everybody thinks is going to Rutgers. But he hasn't committed, his best buddy Miles Schuler has committed, RU has a terrible class going you'd think he'd commit and help them along. Amir Carlisle maybe if he comes, we don't even care what Huggins does!! Going to be a fast finish, either we'll score at the end and everybody will be happy or we'll lose out to "closer to home"....we all know that feeling!
ND <t>Terry,<br/> This has and continues to be a crazy year in recruiting. <br/> I agree with you on the Huggins kid..if we can get the Carlyle kid then we are better off. I'm not sure what's going on with the I. Williams kid but I'm pretty sure he's going to Syracuse.<br/> <br/> The whole Lynch thing is just too much! I'd like to have him at ND but geez kid. .make up your mind!<br/> It would be pretty good to end up with Carlyle., Lynch and another OT for sure but who knows.<br/> Those mid season losses really hurt on the recruiting trail.<br/> .</t>
Tim, I agree that the mid season losses inflicted major damage on Irish recruiting, however I am hopeful that winning out in November with an impressive bowl win with national attention will bring in some top recruits. The fat lady hasn't sung yet.
ND <r>Looks like we might have picked up Nick Martin OL who appears to have decomitted from Kentucky. If so it definitely fills a need. Now we need Carlyle and Lynch. <E>8)</E></r>
With the Atkinson brothers coming in this fall that with the Golics gives us 3 sets of brothers. Seems to me they're trying to save on their parent ticket allotment.
Yeah we needed Martin still could use another OL but not sure we are even in on any more OL's. Martin wasn't as highly ranked as his brother, hopefully he'll be able to red shirt and get in the weight room and get bigger/stronger and also be "developed" by the OL coach, something the previous regime never seemed to do with our OL.
Well we lost the Scarlett kid to CAL. I have to assume it's a distance thing for him. His parents are in education and supposedly favored ND. While CAL as a school is one of the elite public universities in America, they have a terrible grad rate for players and it's not like as a football program they have really been much more than a middle of the pack school in the PAC 10 the last 4 years, his best finish was 4th and Tedford is rumored to be on the hot seat. So in the end he probably just wanted to stay close to home.
Are you kiddin me? Everybody was wetting their pants that he was going to Penn State. This is a complete shock to me.
ND <r>Had to go back and check it again to be sure. Rivals has him as a verbal as of this morning. <br/> <br/> I thought this kid was going to Penn St or Syracuse. He canceled his trip to Penn St. this weekend and made the call for ND this morning.<br/> <br/> Kelly is putting together a very nice defensive haul in this class. <E></E></r>
Yeah pretty much everybody had given up on Ishaq and had him heading to Penn State, supposedly he had man love for Larry Johnson the PSU DL coach. You never can tell though whats going on inside the head of a 18y/o.
ND <r>according to Pete Sampson:<br/> <QUOTE><s> </e></QUOTE> I guess Diaco gets the real credit on this one.</r>
He must have been in the neighborhood doing penance for his Navy game plan at a local Catholic Church. Saying 10 rosaries while kneeling on a bed of glass shards or something like that!
gipper is from New York, I wonder what he thinks about being on the streets in Brooklyn knocking on doors at 4:30AM? Safe?
ND <r>I didn't write this but I saw it on one of the boards and thought it was funny:<br/> <QUOTE><s> </e></QUOTE> <E></E></r>
Pronunciation for future reference: Ishaq = E-shock Middle name: Negus = Nay-goose Last name: Williams = Will-yams
ND <r><QUOTE><s> </e></QUOTE> Sounds good to me. Hopefully he'll "SHOCK" a few of ND's opposing QBs in the near future. <E></E></r>
