Finally Bert Blyleven gets in. As I stated on here for many years, anybody who can pitch the Pittsburgh Pirates and Minnesota Twins to the World Series is a great pitcher and Blyleven was one of the best I ever saw...

It was great to see Blyleven get in. Why it took the sports writers 14 years I'll never know.

Barry Bonds is eligible next year. That will be interesting, based purely on his numbers he should be a 1st ballot HOF, but you have to wonder if the steroid deal will deep six him or not. Roger Clemens will also be eligible next year, same deal...should be a 1st ballot HOF..buttttttttt will he be in the middle of a trial for something...like contempt of Congress?

Others eligible next year....Mike Piazza, Curt Schilling, Craig Biggio and Sammy Sosa!

    Quite a class.

You would have to believe at this point that Bonds and Sosa will be treated the same as the rest of the "lab experiments" have been.... ignored.

In an interview yesterday, Blyleven said that the steroid users "cheated their teammates." His implication was that none of the steroid users should ever be in the HOF...

Today's LA Times correctly points out that Blyleven was probably only the 5th best local high school pitcher in the HOF behind Walter Johnson (Fullerton HS), Don Drysdale (Van Nuys HS) Rollie Fingers (Upland HS) and Bob Lemon (Long Beach Wilson HS)...
