Cheeseheads were crawling all over Disneyland today. They were all dressed head-to-toe in red; whole families of them. Rolling beer-keg fraternities of them. I haven't seen this many Germans since the History Channel ran the series WWII in Color. There were a few TCU's as well, but they looked intimidated and out of place. Everyone ignores them... The LA Times is hostile to both teams, as they always are when there's no west coast team invited. Its hard to dislike the Badgers though. They spend lots of money and act grateful just to be here, no matter how much abuse we heap on them... BTW- I see that the Huskers got initiated to their new reality. The 12Pac owns the Big Ten. Get used to it... [/u]
Thanks JOC'o for my first giggle of the morning..... Thanks JOC'o for my second giggle of the morning....hell, given that this is a Rose Bowl topic, you surely couldn't have forgotten last year's result.....
He might have been thinking of all those other games! Pac10 leads the all-time series by a lot 785-584  Oh yeah, I wonder how many maps of the stars homes the locals sold the cheeseheads!!
Et tu TOK????? Arrrrrghh.... True they do own the overall series.....my data shows 227-234-12 in favor of the beach boys.....so the positive spin would be that we've won or tied more than we lost, so "owns" might be a bit strong, but in fact they have a slight edge. Interesting factoid, the bowl game edge is +7 to the beach boys as well....so in the head/head, home/home series excluding the long trips west into the teeth of the beast where the fine young men from the midwest are bathed in the evils of tinsel town for weeks by the coastal heathen and THEN expected to play a football game, the series is dead even.... Watch out Husker, looks like you've got to defend both flanks now.....!
We just flew back from Denver, where we were visiting family. Saw lots of Wisconsin folks in the airport.
That was too damn funny!!! I had to go change my shirt after spitting up my coffee while reading it...
My over/under pick is that the bars in LA run out of beer before 5 P.M tonight. I suspect the Badger faithful are going through a special kind of hell trying to find a place than sells bratwurst in LA. Chorizos don't count. Last time I checked, the Badgers have beaten PAC 10 teans in the Rose Bowl three straight times. I suspect the Horned Frogs will put up a better fight than UCLA did when they got mashed by Wisconsin.
My thoughts reflect T's about the first two laughs of the day. The cheeseheads are some drinking fools. They are good for the local economy. They are rowdy. They ruffle southern feathers but the SoCals are a more hostile crowd. They'll fit right in.
Drinking in Wisconsin: Minors can legally drink in bars as long as they are with their parents. Drunk driving only becomes a felony after the 5th conviction. There are more bars in Appleton, population 70K, than Sacramento or Fort Worth.
BTW- They had better get this Rose Bowl played fast. Tomorrow is the last clear day, then we get another week of freezing rain...
8) More than 20,000......yes I said 20,000 Cheeseheads held a rally in Santa Monica. Wisconsin's coach called it "unbelievable." Meanwhile, there's not much sign of TCU fans or their ugly mascot. They're probably hiding it somewhere. If the Mexicans see it, they'll shoot it...
I wonder how many TCU fans made the trip? I am pretty sure I read that they sold out their ticket allotment, but beyond that I have no idea. I do know that they don't often sellout their stadium (which they are expanding). They are sort of like Stanford with regards to having a following. In Ft. Worth they are behind the Cowboys, the Longhorns and the Aggies in terms of popularity.
8) Today's LA Times says that the Frog fans are here and buying up every souvenir they can lay their hands on. They're just not holding large, obnoxious rallies like their German counterparts. I saw both groups on TV this morning lined up to watch the Rose Parade and I saw both groups at Disneyland; so it appears that they're getting the full Jungle Boat Ride experience. I think its safe to assume that they have also purchased their Maps to the Star's Homes, visited the Hollywood Sign, viewed the Pacific Ocean and eaten real East LA Mexican food while touring the star's graves at Forest Lawn... Entrepreneurs! Print these out for sale! http://www.seeing-stars.com/live/index.shtml
How bout that... all you mean anti-Frogs can shove it! Either TCU is pretty good, or Wisconsin ain't all that.
Congratulations to TCU, they need to be proud of their accomplishment and for poking a stick in the spokes of NCAA tradition and stirring it up...
