This article sums it up well and also sums up Florida's 2010 season:

I agree 2-10 is repeatedly in Temple's future.

Bull$****. First Doyel is a cheap shot artist at a lot of teams, especially the Gators.

In the second place Addazio has much more of a track record than just being the OC at Florida the past year.

He was also OC last year when we were 13-0 in the regular season and 13 - 1 overall.

He held our team and recruiting class together when Meyer took his leave of absence.

He deserves much better than cheap shots from Doyel and from you.

That offense had a bunch of NFlers and was the weak link of that team.

The defense bailed Addazio out last season as well.

I'll offer this thesis up a second time... perhaps your players were not nearly as good as you thought they would be.

I think the the law of averages reared its head, nothing more.

You are most likely right George. I might also add they were young and that there is not much doubt in my mind that the whole scenario surrounding Urban Meyer had an effect also.

Bottom line is that we had an off season, but I made a comment about my feelings about that in another post. That's what makes averages, some seasons better and some seasons worse.

But to lay the whole thing at the feet of Addazzio is unrealistic and unfair.

I might also take this opportunity to again express my feelings about Doyel.
    He's $#%!$#^

a lot of ND guys who obsessively follow every detail about the program and have opinions on every coach and player say that Addazzio was an excellent OL coach and a good recruiters. They question whether or not he has the skills to be a HC. Temple will find out.

I guess like always it will come down to can he surround himself with good coaches and get a balence between coaches who are good and willing recruiters and coaches who don't really care much for recruiting but are excellent position coaches. It seems like every staff ends up with some guys who just don't like to recruit but are good coaches, you have to have enough guys who like to recruit to cover for them. I'm not sure it's very easy to get a staff of guys who both are good coaches and good recruiters. That was certainly one of Charlies downfalls. And to a certain extent one of Mack Browns problems. He won a lot of games for sure but it wasn't till he got Chizik and Muschamp that he took the next step.

    A most reasonable approach Terry.

However Doyel is not known for being reasonable or thoughtful. I am ashamed to admit that a$$ is a Gator.

Yes Addazio is all those things and being a good recruiter is important. He can get someone else to be the OC.

I wish him luck, if it wasn't for him our program could have fallen off a cliff with recruiting last year

Bill.....I have heard he is a good recruiter so maybe that is true.

Whatever the cause the UF offense last year was clearly in hellish disarray.

Hard for me to believe that it was all the player's fault.

Excuse me Dave but I did not say it was the players fault. It was a down year plain and simple. But the having to assign blame to some scape goat assigned to take all the blame just doesn't hake it.

Doyel is a dirt bag and if you choose to join his blasting a decent guy, help yourself.

Me I think Addazio did a good overall job while he was at Florida and did a lot to hold things together after Meyer took his time leave of absence. For which he should be thanked.

However Doyel has long had it in for Meyer who he called a bad guy and now he piles on Addazio.

You and Doyel help yourself, I won't have any of it.

Bill....obviously Addazio was a good OL coach.....and I'll buy that he was a good recruiter.

But his offense last year was one of the worst I have seen at Florida against good competition especially with the skill players on hand.

And then it gets back to those players......maybe they aren't that good.

Bill....are you asking me to say Addazio did a good job as OC last year???

I can't say that and I don't know many that would.

UF scored 6, 7, 7 and 7 in 4 of the 5 losses and the piss poor offense contributed mightily to those 4 defeats.

    Dave,

You had no running game, a suspect O-Line, a defense that was no longer dominant and no Tebow.

How many positions can Addazio play at once? 8)

Pretty good analysis George but the Qbs were not managed properly and there is some talent at RB and at WR that was underutized by poor playcalling.

Pouncey at center was an experiment that never settled into place but I will say in Addazio's defense though that the injury to Demps did not help and neither did losing the FG kicker.

Well, then saying goodbye to Addazio should be a pleasant task. And I'm certain he will fall on his face at his next stop. Be happy!

I wish Addazio would have stayed on as OL coach and recruiter but who could blame him for taking a HC position.

PMJ I don't think you watched too many Gator games this year I'll bet.

That offense was maddening to watch.

I can't remember.....maybe since the last Florida losing season of 1979 when UF looked so out of whack on offense in their losses.

I mean scoring 6, 7, 7 and 7 in those losses takes some doing with some of the very good skill players on hand at UF.
