That..... Since the inception of the BCS, the two conferences have met on the field in 29 bowl games.....the SEC has won 15, the Big 10 has won 14. In those 11 years, the Big 10 has won more games 4 times, the SEC 3 times and in 4 years they split.....save your nonsense for somebody that can't think for themselves. Until that changes in some material form, I don't expect anybody on this forum to pay attention to the sideshow. I'm not sure when your bluster is more obnoxious.....when the Gators are relevant and you share with us your self-masturbatory chest thumping Tarzan act or when the Gators are weak and you posture about the magnificence of your conference and the dismal state of all who are not and dismiss the accomplishment of all others who achieved some success to salve your wounded pride as in this year.....in any event, there is one constant.....your obnoxious bluster, which this year given the state of your program appears to be more like a panhandler seeking attention..... Stop yelling, unhand your member, zip up your pants and step down from the table.... again.
 of course you do.....and this year you thought you would contend for the national title. With that offense, I'm not sure you'd win any, but let's say for argument sake that you did only lose three.....I guess that would put you right in the middle or perhaps the upper division of the "slop". Congrats.....
Just telling the truth...about the SEC and about the Gators....good or bad. I would say you have some "until that changes" scenarios to be very concerned about with regard to your Buckeyes and the SEC. Speaking of upper division "slop".....I'll bet most Buckeye fans want to beat Arkansas so bad they can taste it....soley because of the SEC thingy goin on with OSU vs. the SEC right now. In reality though....Arkansas is only on occasion upper division "slop" in the SEC and has not won the conference championship since joining in 1992. It would be sort of like an SEC fan pining away to beat Michigan State or perhaps Illinois. I know Bama wants to beat MSU for instance but it's not very high on their list of things to do.
 We want to beat everybody so bad we can taste it....that's what we do. That's why nobody has won more BCS bowl games than we have at Ohio State. I'll bet when you were growing up you had a big brother or sister fight your battles for you! Your using your big brothers and sisters in the entirety of the SEC to fight your battles for you in a sorry effort to make yourself feel better just as they would at Kentucky and Vandy during bowl season.....nice company stud! Well played.....
When you have a conference like the B10 that has been a special establishment serving great dishes for years.....and you revamp the menu and add a filet mignon such as Nebraska, you just made something great, better. People are already standing in line for the new Grand Opening. Hey, that was pretty good...I just made that up!! How 'bout that B10 Brothers and Sisters!! God it's good to be loved....been starved for that since?........'96?
AJ that would be too easy....same time zone and all.... BT....you don't really want me to go there. Did I mention UF was 9-5 vs. the Big Ten but more importantly won two of the last four national championships by a cumulative score of 65-28!! It seems UF has represented itself pretty well in any fight you Buckeyes or Big Ten guys could drum up. Heck....that's like me saying the Buckeyes send big brother Michigan in to fight their SEC battles....no.....wait.....
That's what makes the '95 CORNHUSKERS the best team ever....they (not we) only needed one game to outscore the SEC 62-24.
AJ....your points about the '95 Cornhuskers are always well taken. That was one hell of a shellacking of UF....by a Big 12 school. Actually as I mentioned in my first post of this topic it is the addition of Nebraska along with the conference title game that gives the Big 10 a big nudge up in the BCS title game selection process.....a nudge that was sorely needed by everyone in the conference except for the GREAT AND ALMIGHTY OHIO STATE......or so I am told.
Well, in the BCS era you are a dominating 2-4.......congrats. Not quite....you forgot to mention the fact that we beat them like a red-headed step child before sending them out to feast and recuperate on the SEC juggernaut.
Yeah....it seems to be a conundrum. OSU can't beat an SEC team.....lost huge to Florida but can regularly beat Michigan which in turn has no trouble beating SEC teams including Florida. :?
Then you win. The PAC 10 and the Big XII are the toughest conferences. That will go down in all of the record books just above who won the National Championships, I guess.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Ergo, when OSU is in the game I'll bet you are pretty proud of them. 8)
Proud to be sure....whilst also recognizing the inherent flaws in a system that enables us to have the opportunity to compete for the title while leaving others with - equally valid claims - behind to watch and wonder what might have been....let 'em play.
Yeah I too am a big proponent of a playoff, and if someone wants to offer an alternate way to figure Strength of Schedule then go for it, but if you really believe that the NC is just a beauty contest then I am a little surprised that you want your team to participate at all. :?:
As it has every year since the inception of the BCS.... the BCS national championship will be decided on the field this year. That last game may be exclusive but there is a lot in place to try and determine who those two teams are and I don't think beauty has anything to do with it.
and if you agree that the BCS is an exclusionary club with a clear caste system set up within its own members that clearly show preference to others for no other reason than reputation... than we have come to an agreement.
That is an important part of what I am saying. It may not be perfect but it beats the hell out of all those years in which conferences just marched off to play their bowl tie-ins when they could have been playing a very worthy adversary in a national championship game. A champion voted on between a 14-0 Sugar Bowl champ ( Auburn ) and a 13-0 Rose Bowl champ ( Oregon ) is much closer to being based on reputation than what the BCS offers us in Glendale.
