Terry, I wish some of the Negative Nellies, chronic complainers on GatorCountry could read your post.

After spending the last hour or so digesting this and reading about Muschamp I think we hired a winner.

    Bill,

How is Muschamp being recieved on the Gator boards? From your posts I got the feeling that Gators were feeling like this time Stoops was going to come, is that right. The thing that suprised me was that of the A list candidates, he wasn't on them. So are fans disappointed that they ended up with a Coordinator with no HC experience, when they thought maybe Stoops or the Boise State Coach?

Mixed at this point Terry. I think most fans are rolling around after the initial shock.

However there s a hard core of negative complainers who are making a lot of noise. I hope they go away somewhere else as I am pretty tired of their complaints this season.

I think that Muschamp will be well received in the end.

    Muschamp is an SEC guy.
He knows the region, and the competition.
    Seems like a smart hire.

(I will say I'm not a big fan of his antics on the sidelines, but I suspect those will tone down now that he's the head man.)

    I think so too Scott.

But we, Gators, sure have some posters who think they know more than our AD.

It seems that in the last few years there are more and more negative posts on GatorCountry.

From what I hear that's true on other sites also.

Don't worry Bill, the Gators don't have a monopoly on negativity... not by a long shot.

At midseason the Aggie boards were full of guys ready to hang Mike Sherman.
They've all crawled off into their holes for now... but they are just waiting for a slip to come back.

Glad to know we aren't the only fan base with a lot of negative posters. Heck ours were complaining last year when we were 12-0 and ranked number one in the country. Then after losing to Alabama there was a lot of told you so from them. That with a 13 - 1 team.

    Thanks Tom, I'm optimistic also.

Bill, I think the negative fan base is almost the norm anymore. Sad but true in many programs. We certainly have our share of detractors.

Hope things work out well for the Gators!

Bill, why are you lurking in NDNAtion? Oh.....you were talking about your own boards? I see.

What I find interesting is that the number of negative folks and know-it-alls on these boards is miniscule, a grain of sand on the beach, compared to the vast numbers of fans of the respective teams. But their shrill volume gives them "street cred" among their misguided peers. Have you ever heard the term, circle jerk? That's what I think of when I think of NDNation and other collectively misguided forums.

Just like I said about Zook when he was hired at UF to most people's amazement:

"I hope he never get's fired"......

......translation: He does so well that getting fired is not an issue.

I do think on the surface that the hiring of WM is much more like the hiring of Meyer than the hiring of Zook.

    Still......you can't deny it's surprising.

kp, like I said earlier there was a loud group last year complaining when the Gators were 13-0, then when we lost to Bama they felt vindicated, me I was disgusted with them then and now.

    Sid, I like your analogy.

Dave, I think we are on the same page here. While being shocked at first, after checking into Muschamp I think we have a winner.

I am also gratified that Foley learned enough after the Zook debacle, where his plane was even being tracked, to handle this one in a way where no one knew where he was going.

    Kudo's to Foley.

    Bill,

It's done now......no sense in complaining.

I do like the fact that WM can continue UF's recruiting dominance......which is a key to the run we have been on.

I understand last year's criticisms of the offense.....Mullen was gone and the writing was on the wall all season that 14-0 was going to be hard to accomplish with the sporadic struggles of the offense.

14-0 was necessary to defend the NC and it wasn't too much to expect that Tebow and co. might be able to repeat.

I would like to see them win every game every year as long as that one loss was to Tennessee!

Might being the operative word Dave. We might have but we lost a game and didn't.

As we can see this year there is never a guarantee that any one team will go 14-0. It's the nature of the game and we had a fine season in 2009 just not as good as we had hoped.
I understand how you feel Tom, I will say the same thing about the Vols with one exception, S. Carolina. I still have a soft spot for Spurrier. :)

Well there have been rumors flying around about staff from Texas that might go with Muschamp, esp Major Applewhite and Duane Akina...but at the moment they seem to be just that rumors.

One thing is that Muschamp has no bowl to prepare for so he can leave immediately and he has a staff in place to handle the Gators Bowl game so he can concentrate on putting together his first staff at UF. I don't think he can do any recruiting though unless Meyer puts him offically on the staff.

Well Mack supposedly will name Randy Shannon as the next DCoord. It's a good hire, Shannon's defenses at Miami were excellent. In fact I like him better than Muschamp to tell you the truth. Worked out well for us and for the Gators.

    Terry,

I agree you are getting a great DC if Shannon goes to Texas. I believe that he won DC of the year twice in that position.
