Beacon on the Hill always shines bright and true!! You can be assured that this young man's change of mind was divinely inspired. 8) 8)
Interesting tribute to Declan Sullivan by an Oregon player (D.J.Davis) who has no connection to him or to Notre Dame. Says he just knows he'd feel if his brother (who is the same age as Declan) had that happen to him. Duck Tribute
Article on recruit Everett Golson (QB) and his potential in the Kelly Offense. Whether he's like Tony Rice was to Lou Holtz is yet to be seen, but a lot of people really like this kid. Golson
nd <r>Terry,<br/> <br/> I like what I hear and see about Golson. An accurate passer who is very mobile would make the Irish offense much more potent. I guess the reservations on him are his size but with Kelly's offense I don't think that is a major concern. They list him at 6'1" but he's probably 5'11". I think he might be a good one. We will find out real fast as he will enroll early and will be in the spring QB mix. <E>8)</E></r>
Actually, Tony Rice was not a good passer when he first came to ND. He was a project who learned to pass well enough to complement his running game. Cool personal story. Some of you may recall that when Tony Rice committed to ND he was lambasted in his home state of South Carolina for not going to Clemson or South Carolina......and that was before the internet. To take the pressure off, he came up to ND for the summer preceding his freshman year. I had signed up my 12-yr. old son for the ND basketball camp and had taken him to campus to register him and get him set up in his dorm. We were walking away from the South Dining Hall and a young-looking African American kid was walking toward us. Brian recognized him as Tony Rice. This is how locked in on ND football Brian was as a youngster. He had read about TR and had seen his picture. Tony was astounded that someone, much less a young kid, would recognize him on the ND campus before he ever enrolled in class, and he said as much as he flashed his shy, magnetic smile. I'll never forget that moment. EDIT: After re-reading this post, I feel I should correct what I said about TR not being a good passer. He was an OK passer in the beginning, but in his early years he had accuracy issues, plus he would throw bullets when he should have been getting some air under the ball. By his senior year he was the complete package.
I have a video of Brian as a baby....Sid was appaently an easy going parent who did nothing to encourage Brian to be a ND fan, he believed that Brian should decide for himself. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/TYP4Gn7JJUY?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/TYP4Gn7JJUY?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
 Three very good schools on the bonehead list need to get their act together: Arizona, Michigan State and Texas A&M. There is no excuse for any of them to have grad rates like that...
I didn't want to start a new topic just for one quick story. This past Saturday, I went to my 4th grade grandson's CYO basketball game. One of the referees was Pat Kuntz.
