I'm writing this from my wife's computer. Mine crashed and burned and it was less than one year old. I was sitting here after work, checking the stock market results, when it became difficult to navigate. Then I saw my Norton anti-virus blink off and then the whole thing went blue screen on me. It said that I was missing some needed driver. I put my Windows XP disk in; loaded all drivers; and attempted to restart, but it says that I don't have a hard drive. From previous experiences, I know that this is not good.

If I have to buy a new hard drive, I'll just go with Windows 7, like this computer that I'm using, instead of XP. Diane will contact my brother-in-law (the computer expert) tomorrow and we'll let him look at it. In the meantime, communications will be dicey around here and I'll be using Diane's stuff, or school district hardware...

Now might be the time to consider a Mac. I personally use Windows but my better half has used a Mac for over a year and suffers from none of the nonsense we PC users do.

Yes... Jim e-mailed. Tell him there is no time like the present to go Mac. 14 months for me and not a single issue. A few workarounds to be compatible with the PC world but nothing major.

Macs aren't fool proof. My niece had a MacBook go toes up and lost all her data after 3 months, one of my employees who's daughter has a MacBook at Texas just had it crash and again lost all their data. They were both under warranty and Apple fixed them and reloaded the OS, just not their data..which for them was all their music. But now they both backup!

I'm writing this from my new computer. The "Geek Squad" at Best Buy wanted to charge me $99 to "set up" my computer, which I declined. These are the same clowns who wanted to "fix" my old computer by charging me $200 to wipe my hard drive... Uh, how did they figure that I was smart enough to reinstall all of my old software on the old XP computer, but not smart enough to set up my new computer that comes with Windows 7 preinstalled and sets itself up?

    Inquiring minds want to know...
