Of course we have to wait all day to see the actual match-ups but it looks like: BCS Title Game: AU-Or Rose : TCU-Wis Sugar: OSU-Ark Orange: VT-Stanford Fiesta: OU-UConn That is about the order I would rank the games in terms of "must see". Except for OU-UConn they all look to be the makings of some serious battles that could go back and forth. Prelim predictions: Auburn 49 Oregon 42 OT Wis 37 TCU 31 Ark 31 OSU 28 OT VT 35 Stan 34 OU 38 UConn 24
It would make more sense for Stanford to go to the Fiesta Bowl and UConn to go to the Orange Bowl. Fans for both teams more likely to travel to those destinations.
I see Oregon-Auburn as a toss-up, but bring your calculator. Auburn had better play some defense, because the Ducks won't let up... Ohio State-Arkansas might be the best bowl matchup... The Hokies are in a heap-o-trouble against Stanford... Oklahoma should disintegrate UConn. Those who believe that the Big East is as good as the MWC or WAC should watch this game and remember that TCU will be thee football power of the Big East from day#1, while UConn would have finished as low as 4th in either of those other conferences. Even "Big Game Bob" can win this one...
The final insult to Neb from the B12....they have to go to San Diego to play the same team they beat the snot out of early in the season!!! Very few good matchups. I do like Navy vs San Diego State, and Air Force vs Ga.Tech....will either team even throw a pass? And why oh why did they not send Stanford to the Fiesta and UConn to the Orange ...I guess it made too much sense.
C'mon Terry, you know the BCS is not a coalition set up to give us good games. It's to make money, and it's every man for himself once the champ game is set. Did anyone expect the Orange bowl to "take one for the team" and pick UConn? No way. Would ANYONE watch a VT/UConn matchup? Picking last sux and it was the Fiesta's turn. I see quite a few games that I will at least start off with to see how they go. No comment on ND vs Miami?
Bowl rematches are not common, but the Holiday Bowl had no choice in who it would take of Pac-10 teams after the Alamo selected, with that bowl siding with Arizona, which at 7-5 finished with a better record than UW overall and beat the Huskies 44-14 during the season. And Nebraska fell to the Holiday when the Insight passed, instead taking Missouri. The Holiday has the fifth pick of Big 12 schools. However, this rematch seems even a little more unlikely on the face of it because UW will also play at Nebraska next year, meaning the two teams will meet three times in 12 months. Also, Nebraska played in the Holiday Bowl last year, demolishing Arizona 33-0. But it's the bowls that make the picks on this and UW has no real say in the matter as it was obligated to go there per the Pac-10 contracts. And one rumor making the rounds is that the Big 12 pushed for favorable matchups for the schools that are staying in its conference.
Exactly. We'll have played UW 3 times inside of 12 months. How stupid is that? Those hillbillies in Columbia will have about 3,000 fans there. Insight Bowl said that the draw of UM from a BCS poll standing was more intriguing for them...whatever. Good luck with that money maker. There's a bigger contingent of Arizonians for Nebraska chapter there than what Missery will bring to the game. Enjoy that anorexic cash cow Phoenix.
Looks like the early lines have Auburn by 3 and the o/u at 74....the only other one I looked at has the Buckeyes by 3 o/u at 57. I think I'd be taking the over in the AU/OU game.....
Thanks Husker, I'm glad we got you down off of the ledge......a good butt kickin' in your bowl game will be a good thing to look forward to.... Go Huskers!
Love the over in the BCS title game........but then again I sold 1,000 shares of Akamai when it dipped down to a $1.00 a few years ago because I said I wouldn't lose my last thousand in that miserable market ( at the time ). I think OSU-Ark and TCU-Wisky will be great games to watch......both decided by 7 points or less potentially. Also, I have just ordered my Outback Bowl tickets......but the University of Florida ticket office says they only have 12,000 to sell so I wonder if I'll get them with my low booster priority. At least I am a season ticket holder though.
CFN breaks down the bowls: http://cfn.scout.com/2/1028487.html The comment in bold rings so true about the bowls: "January 4, 2011 New Orleans, LA Allstate Sugar Bowl 8:00 pm ABC SEC No. 1 vs. BCS at-large Arkansas vs. Ohio State - Ohio State, it's time to finally beat an SEC team in a bowl game. The Buckeyes' only loss came to Wisconsin on the road, but they didn't beat anyone of note. Winning at Iowa doesn't seem like that big a deal now, and beating Miami wasn't anything to get fired up over. However, beating an SEC team in a BCS game would exorcise plenty of demons, while a loss would be devastating; at least it would for the message board types. The Hogs boast one of the nation's most effective offenses, able to play any style. A win over the Buckeyes would make Arkansas the IT team going into 2011, even if Ryan Mallett is off to the NFL. Kirk Herbstreidt even mentioned this last night in that he said OSU fans feel disrespected by the SEC and have something to prove. I'll bet the Buckeyes will be jacked sky high for this one. That is what I do like about the bowl games. They create region vs. region games that give us all some fun and fodder for the rest of the season. I know.....I know......I should be worried about how my Florida Gators might represent....or rather misrepresent the SEC vs. the Big 10's Penn State. I am worried....believe me......absolutely worried.
Hey BT....I have always been honest about my team. I'll be the first to believe in them and enjoy all the media hype when they are great and I am also ahead of the media in criticism when I can see for myself that they have serious limitations or have underachieved. This 2010 UF edition has done both of the latter many times over and I have been pointing that out all season since the first game. Interesting though that while I was right about the horrible state of the UF offense after that first game little did I know that they stunk it up vs. the eventual MAC Champion.....Miami of Ohio.
 Of course you are....at least twice a day. However, this year you are very fortunate to only be matched up against -as some in the SEC have suggested - some of the Big 10's "slop" and therefore you ought to roll......oh wait, that was you. Apparently the matchmakers believe you deserve each other......enjoy your day as you commingle with the "slop" in the bowl.....
