    While waiting to see where the Irish go this Holiday Season for their Bowl. The Irish coaches are working their tails off on the recruiting trail.

    Cam McDaniel RB from Coppell Tx a new pickup which many people like, kid has had an excellent HS career.

    Now Everett Golson a Spread QB from South Carolina who had been a verbal to UNC, who wants to play basketball as well as football at ND. A lot of people are super fired up over this commit, say that as a college QB in Kelly's system that he has a tremendous potential. I'm of the opinion that we have enough QB's on the roster as it is, and I'd rather have more OL's, DL's, DB's. But there are those who say that no matter what you need a QB in every class. A lot of people feel that he will compete for a starting job next fall, I'll have to take the position of someone from Missouri on that issue. But welcome to the fold Everett!

    You can't have too many QBs when you don't have even one who can run the offense. If we had one real, ready-for-primetime QB this season who could run and pass, the Irish would have won every game except Stanford...

    I think we'll lose two QBs between now and next September to attrition or perhaps Crist will not be able to play. He could be finished.

    Well no doubt the consensus seems to be that Golson is a great fit for the Kelly offense. Not to mention Kelly doesn't seem to be able to make it through the season with 1 QB anyway. Never did it at Cincy, don't know about CMU or GVSU.

    <r>I'm sure one of our QBs is gonna transfer. One of them is going to jump cause their simply isn't the potential playing time for them. With Golson coming in it makes it even more doubtful for a couple of them if he is as advertised. Kelly needs to make sure he hangs onto Rees and Hendrix. They would appear to best suited for the offense. <br/>
    <br/>
    I'm really not sure about Crist anymore. He has the arm and accuracy but he didn't seem to pick up the offense as fast as Rees seems to be. <E>8)</E></r>

    I'm happy with Rees. This is an 18 year old kid who probably thought his action would be limited to carrying a clipboard. Instead he gets thrown in the middle of a game and ends up leading the team in some of the biggest venues in sports including Yankee Stadium and the Coliseum. He throws a nice ball, he can get it downfield, he can thread a needle. he has good escapability in the pocket and stays cool under pressure unlike Crist.

    Has anybody fallen further faster than Dayne Crist?

    I mean the kid has been a heck of an advocate for ND, during his recruitment (2007) he almost singlehandedly kept his class together, and was considered one of the best on the campus recruiters we had once he got to ND.

    I think a lot of people were looking forward to his taking over since Clausens public persona was that of somewhat of a dick..personally I never thought that though. But still Dayne was ready, did his 2 year apprenticeship under Weis, and everybody said he'd be great at the Kelly offense, it was so similar to what he ran in high school.

    Oh well.... I said at the begining of the year that 3 QB's who were 5* QB's would be first time starters this year and great years would put them into the Heisman race. Gilbert (Texas), Brantley (UF) and Crist (ND). Well they all had bad years, Crist is being eclipsed as he heals, Brantley is transfering, and Gilbert was just horrible, he was a turnover machine.

    Funny how things work out.

    I always thought Clausen was a dick and so did a few folks on the "inside". He was a tough SOB though... getting sacked 58 times in one season must have been like falling off a building over and over.

    I think his old man was a dick also.

    I can confirm that! His wife won't even sit in the same section with him at a game.

    The NCAA confirms that Clausen didn't know his dad was a dick.

    On the depth chart...

    Montana's kid will get squeezed out for sure, as will any walk-on QBs. I still won't count Massa out. He's exactly what Kelly wanted at both Cincinnati and ND, but he may have a difficult time overcoming Hendrix, Rees and Golson. This competition will be interesting for sure. It will tell us as much about what Kelly really wants as well as the abilities of the players themselves.

    Hey Tim looks like the Irish will be heading your ways for the Sun Bowl, along with the Miami Hurricanes! Rekindling old rivalries!

    <r>No doubt El Paso would be probably 80% ND fans for this game but if the Sun Bowl takes ND and Miami, who ends up being the home team? <E>:?</E></r>

    If Miami fans can't make it to their home games, just how many will travel to beautiful Juarez to see their 7-5 Canes play?

    <r>Well I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder. They haven't had "basic" training here in many years and it was on Fort Bliss, not in Juarez. The government is dumping millions into Fort Bliss now in new facilities as they are bringing another 30,00 troops. Oh yeah, about those mountains, I see them every morning, beautiful. Tumbleweeds and sand, yeah we got those but we don't have is snow, ice, tornadoes, hurricanes, temps below zero, frequent thunderstorms, etc, etc etc. Yeah, we got it rough here. Makes me wonder why I didn't go back to Indiana after I retired from the Army here.LOL! <br/>
    <br/>
    Juarez is Juarez, fortunately it hasn't spilled over into El Paso. We are a relatively safe city here.<br/>
    <br/>
    They have a lot of new lodging and ya can't beat the food here. I'm sure the team would rather go elsewhere and honestly, I would rather see ND go to somewhere else as I'm sure the players would have a better time but hey, if ND is coming here I'm on the 50 yard line screaming my head off...GO IRISH!! <E>8)</E></r>
