Man that guy has really supported that program. They have a state of the art lockeroom that everybody was jealous of because of all the stuff in there for the players. Then he built them a state of the art basketball facility and now it's been announced that he's going to build them a 6 story football facility ...oh yeah and he finances all those uniforms the Ducks have as well.

Not to mention their recruiting profile is increasingly national, this year they have come into Texas and picked up 3 4star players and 1 5 star players.

And people used to say ND had an unfair advantage with the NBC contract. How about Phil Knight and the Ducks or Boone Pickens and the OK State Cowboys?

I wonder when Phil will build a NFL stadium to replace Autizen?

I wonder if Oregon will now get out and play around the country like USC does?

Oregon plays people.. especially by today's standard and then some.

They usually have someone from a BCS power conference, someone good from the Mountain West/WAC and one stiff.

Since 2000 they've played Oklahoma (twice), Wisconsin (twice), Miss State (twice), Michigan (twice), Purdue (twice), Indiana (twice)..then you toss in the Houston, Boise State, Utah games and their schedule isn't bad.

I mean, people slight it because they play Mountain West teams but it's not like many folks are beating them either.

You're right, plus I see that they are opening next year against LSU at Cowboy Stadium. That should be a hum dinger! The Hat vs the Blur! :)

ha! yeah it should be interesting.

The more the landscape of college football changes, the more I tend to embrace it. The longer the old tweed coats have to figure out a system, the more likely they are to dumb down their schedules and make the game less exciting.

With all of the change going on, there's one thing that can't be denied. If you get out and play people (and beat them) you will wind up rewarded.. With the notable exception of the SEC who just flat gets a pass.

    KP,

I don't think that Tennessee or Alabama were in the sights of that shot.

That may be Tom, but in that case the SEC didn't just get a flat pass.

Let's see... the talking heads are already saying that a 1 loss SEC Champion (Auburn) must seriously be considered over TCU and automatically over any other 1 loss team.

Auburn played in their noncon Arkansas STATE, Chattanooga, La-Monroe and an awful Clemson team.. but I'll give you the alleged brand name recognition on Clemson. I mean, the media tells us they are good every year so it must be so, right?

Their opponent in the SECCG played Troy, Furman, Southern Miss and Clemson.. again, trademark value on Clemson.

Sometimes brand name isn't enough. I mean, for once LSU didn't play a horsesh*t schedule but how were they to know that the college football equivalent of Watergate would break out at North Carolina? Add to that West Virginia being... well, a Big East team... toss in their usual La Monroe and McNeese State... but at least LSU tried.

Arkansas did play Texas A&M.. but they also played Tennessee Tech, La Monroe (why not put em in the conference?) and UTEP,

Miss State did play Houston.. for what that is worth once UCLA knocked out their QB depth chart.. They also lined up power houses Alcorn State, Memphis and UAB.

Ole Miss played Fresno State, and also played Tulane, La-Lafeyette and Jacksonville State... on an unrelated note.. who says Houston Nutt is actually a good coach anymore?

Florida.. actually with the addition of USF this was more ambitious than previous efforts... hats off.

Georgia plays Georgia Tech...because it's their instate rival.. they played Colorado (hats off, they lost), La-Lafayette and Idaho State.

Kentucky.. Louisville is the marquis matchup here. The others are Akron, Western Kentucky and Charleston Southern. In a related note, had Kentucky scheduled and beaten Clemson (like everyone else) maybe they could have declared themselves South Carolina State champs?

    Corey,
You forgot to include that Oregon played the likes of Portand St, Fresno St, Utah St, Idaho, oh yeah and I guess you need to give Miss St. some credit for playing Oregon during that time period too. :?:

Getting ready to respond........but saw this instead.

Playing at Florida State this year was certainly no picnic either.

But somehow that always gets a "pass" in the credibility field here.

Nice building. Do he use 12 yr. olds to do the actual construction work or just to make the money to build it?

Miss State did not play Oregon in that time frame. The games I posted above are all this season.

One could make the argument that Oregon might well have been in the NC hunt this year because they didn't play Boise (who beat them both years) this season, but then again.. that doesn't wash well with the point that people are trying to make.

i gotcha. yeah I was just talking about this season since past years and success on field seem to escape the selection committee and pollsters.

BTW, how are you liking being back home?

I love it. Kids, grandkids, SEC and Alabama football news everyday. It doesn't get much better than this. How about you? You in Mobile? Is that right?

    Nope, I am in Decatur.

It's alright. Still holding down the fort as one of maybe a dozen ND fans in this state. Being an Irish Bruin makes me a bit of an oddity in these parts. I gotta be the only dude in this state that Alabama fans don't want to talk football with :) If they do, it's usually something under the breath about cheating, stolen titles and some other odd ramblings :D

Auburn fans just kill me. Is there anybody they like other than themselves? It's not like I'm gonna see them on either of my team's schedules any time soon. ;)

But yeah, still in Alabama livin the dream......
