This year some very fine teams like Wisconsin, Ohio State and Stanford would love to see a playoff......their fans think they would fare well in a playoff.

But I say why in the hell should Wisconsin have to beat Ohio State again....they already did by 13.....and Oregon should have to beat Stanford again....they already did by 21.

Isn't it fair to assume that in a playoff those rematches could occur?

The regular season already allowed for OSU and Stanford to do their thing....win every game necessary.....and they fell short.

They both lost their toughest games.

I think the regular season is every bit as important and significant for crowning a champion as a playoff would be.

Who won't watch Auburn try to solidify it's BCS spot this Saturday by beating SC in the SECCG?

Who would watch if there were playoffs coming the following week?

Why should we watch Auburn have to beat South Carolina...again!

I would watch the SEC Championship game to see who wins my favorite conference and what seed the winner gets in the playoffs...the next week. And the loser would probably be out of the playoffs but then again maybe not. Tune in and see. And multiply that by all of the conference championships around the country.

    You're kidding right?

Outside of the south Kp.......surprisingly.... there are many fans who don't think of the SECCG as you and I do and that would be especially so if there were playoffs following.

I think Big 10ers might just opt for x-mas shopping with the wife or putting up Christmas lights instead. :D

Not having a playoff made the Auburn-Tide game great. With playoffs, it would not have been as critical for Auburn. They would have been in the playoffs regardless of what happened.

    Sound reasoning Gipper.

And maybe you'll stay off the icy roof this Saturday ( instead of putting up your x-mas lights ) and watch to see if Auburn can escape into the BCS title game.........maybe.

Gip doesn't doo roofs anymore. Gravity does find me very attractive. :D

As it does me. I haven't done roofs in over 10 years. Cindy has 1-800-WeFixIt on speed dial. A handy man is cheeper than a visit to the emergency room.

Hell I hang up wreaths with lights and put our tree in the picture window. No roof lights. Now that's CHEAP.

If you really believe that then you don't understand the Auburn/Alabama fans at all. 8)

Actually I was referring to the millions of other football fans who don't live in Alabama. Like those in Idaho, Ft. Worth, and Salem.

I lived in Detroit for 31 years Gipper.

I fully understand that the world does not revolve around SEC football in most parts of the country. It's appointment TV in the south.......but not so much in the midwest.......unless it has national championship implications.

That I understand, but you said it wouldn't have been as critical for Auburn. That is mistaken. That game is critical for Auburn and for Alabama every year, regardless of records. There are people in this state talking about having to replace Saban because we blew a 24 point lead to Auburn. This is less than a year after winning a national championship. 8)

    Terry,
That is crazy talk by a few idiots but I included it to illustrate the importance of the Auburn/Alabama game to the schools and fans in this state. We don't need any external motivation, not for that game.
