I'll go ahead and start this since the next game for both is with each other one week from today. ( 2:30 pm EST ) I hope Cam Newton is innocent......his father is innocent.....and the story goes away. I also hope the Tigers play him and beat Bama......because.....I want to see the SEC compete for and win a 5th consecutive BCS title. Auburn is the league's only hope to do so and I do enjoy seeing the SEC go as far as it can every year. Now....that said.....if Newton is disqualified.....or if Bama does win next Friday I want Spurrier and SouCar to win the SEC Title in Atlanta. I have to hold off predicting this game until we see what transpires next week with Newton.
Bama maybe too tired for that game after running up and down the field last night and scoring 60+ points!! Personally I hope Auburn loses, there is too much smoke for their not to be something going on with Newton and his Dad. I really want to see Oregon and Boise State for the Nat'l Championship. I think that will be the best game and a huge winner on TV. Although the crew on the UCLA/Wash game were all convinced that even if Auburn loses to Bama, that they will still make the NC game if they win the SECCG. If that happens it'll be a travashamockery!
Unless Auburn is completely cleared and the accusers go away redfaced I don't see any chance for Auburn to lose this late in the season to Bama and still make the BCS title game. If the Tigers lose to the Tide I do want to see an Oregon-Boise/TCU Final.
Well, I hope Newton plays and Alabama wins and everything else will take care of itself. The SEC is not entitle to a spot in the BCS. Having said that as you know Strength of Schedule does need to count for something, IMHO, so if enough folks and the computers think Boise State's SOS is enough to go to the Show then, so be it. Of course the natural course to follow that is for everyone to start playing 2 top 25 schools a year and have the rest of your schedule be sub .500 record teams.
KP.....just once I would like to see what happens when a Boise/TCU gets to play a top notch team....fully motivated and ready to rock in a BCS title game. This may be the year because I am not an Auburn fan by any means but of course if they go undefeated then they are in and it's fine. One loss.....last game of the season.....nah.
MCG, A win against Auburn by Boise would just fuel the flame. Boise plays a couple of games a year against a ranked team, then they get to build up to a big game in the bowl. They don't have to build up to play a ranked team 4, 5, or 6 times a year. It's a whole different situation.
Who the hell has Auburn played? I mean that seriously. The SEC has shown me absolutely nothing this year and no conference crows more about their absolute supremacy than the SEC. They play each other, lay up on reputation and get thru to the Title game. I had no issue with Alabama last year playing for it all. However, this nonsense that they are just so much better is hogwash and worse.. we don't get to 'prove it' until it's too late.. and once it's proven, the season is gone.. and the next year, we get to start with a fresh slate of SEC supremacy.. Eh whatever, I say let's just see this play out.. Odds makers had Oregon as a 9 point favorite over Auburn (since neither TCU or Boise will get in the game until one of the other two lose) All we really know of those 4 teams is that Boise has beaten Oregon in each of the last two years and they are 1-1 against TCU in the last two years. Remind me who doesn't play anybody...
Corey.....come on. The last 4 years running the SEC has dominated the BCS Title game. You and BT just have a brain fart when it comes to remembering those games I guess. Oh no....now that I have responded I will get the usual....the knee jerk....MCG you are a crassless winner response..... ....spare me. 8)
I will further my point.. Auburn has played La-Monroe Arkansas State Chattanooga Clemson That's 3 panty wastes and Clemson.. who is 5-5 (3-4 in conference) and Auburn needed a penalty as well as an act of God shank to win the game AT HOME!!!!!!!!!!! Clemson..fighting for bowl eligibility in a conference that is being won by Virginia Tech.. one of those 'overrated' big boys beaten by Boise State. Is Auburn another SEC hitting it's stride or did they just get into conference play? ****, Colorado joined the wrong conference.
I saw it. It's garbage. You want a 1 game season. You put a team in the NC game and if you win that, you are as great as you say you are.. ********. Absolute ********. re-read either of the two posts I made. 4 unbeatens left.. Oregon, TCU, Auburn and Boise.. I can tell you how 3 of those 4 do against one another. The one we don't know because they don't play anyone?? Auburn... But the one team who stands the longest shot at even sniffing a NC game is the one team who has proven on the field they can beat the others. Just like the rest of your conference this year.. everyone is 'hitting their stride' coincidentally as they enter conference play.. You can't refute the absolute validity of each statement I made that pertains to THIS SEASON by saying 'see my previous post' which is nothing more than saying 'scoreboard.. we won the title game in a flawed system that automatically excludes half of the entire division before a game is played'
Hey....there were a lot of criteria that went in to those SEC teams being selected for those title games and then.....BOOM! 8)
Corey....given the results of the last 4 BCS Title games have you ever considered the head exploding thought that perhaps it was the opponents of the SEC BCS Title game participants that perhaps shouldn't have been in the game????
I will be rooting for the Crimson Tide! Too much bad news about Arburn and the booster organizations to suit me.
They may well be. A quick check says Boise will have played 2 ranked teams and their whole schedule only has 5 teams with winning records. Auburn will have played 6 ranked teams (including USC twice so 5 ranked teams depending on how you want to look at it). Look, I am a big playoff advocate and obviously Boise should be included in that picture but until then SOS has to figure in here somewhere.
I think Boise has inked on for two of those CFA games in Atlanta...if they haven't, it's close to being a done deal. Either way, this has gotten off topic and that's my fault as much as anyone else's. There were some heavy air biscuits being floated so I'll do my part to stay outta that and get back on topic. I think Bama wins this. Bama is the most talented team in the SEC. They have some problems in the secondary and it appears they may have some chemistry leadership problems.. something is just missing. Alabama hasn't penetrated or attacked in the backfield well. It's mind boggling. Their offense will not attack vertically and that has been their undoing all year. However, with 2 weeks to clear their heads.. I think they'll be ready for it. Auburn has a terrible defense.. and worse, it's a chippy, dirty defense. Auburn is best at home and really not that strong on the road.. Their schedule is absolutely awful. This is a very average team with the best player in college football at QB.. I like Saban's odds in this one.
Didn't Alabama have to replace 9 defensive starters? And they are still a top 25 team? I wish ND had that problem.
