Doo Doo keeps getting deeper and deeper for Cam Newton. More comes out today that is very close to a smoking gun. This is likely to mess up a lot of stuff unless it is resolved very soon. If Cam is found ineligible next year, it will screw up the Heisman trophy, the SECCG and maybe the NC game.

It is a dilemma for the NCAA.

They need to come a conclusion quickly either way and make a ruling so we can have a legitimate Heisman winner and BCS Champion if Auburn is a factor... without the threat of recension later on.

Sure, just like they moved with lightning speed to investigate USC and Bush.

My opinion is that the NCAA moves at their own pace to gather all the facts and make their decision. The ones that want swift movement are usually the ones that want something to be overlooked.

The key: Don't do anything wrong. Keep playing your best. You'll have no regrets that way.

So true but the fans don't control what goes on but the fans have to live with the consequences of those that do.

In this case not only the Auburn fans but fans of college football in general have to deal with the uncertainty surrounding of the highest team and individual achievements in CFB.

The NCAA has to get it right.......and it would be better if they sped up the process if that is even doable.

Dave, sports and fans are not that important. The lives of the directly affected people are. Thus, Auburn playing Cam and allowing him to play out the season until proven guilty is the right thing to do. Fact gathering without making a rash decision is the right thing to do.

Is your life going to end if Cam has to give up the Heisman?

    I don't think so.

It's not life altering Tom but I think there are millions of college football fans who would like to see this get resolved before the season has concluded.

I'm really conflicted on this, I agree that it would a great tragedy if Cam is denied the Heisman Trophy and a chance at the NC game and latter found to be innocent. But right now that seems to be a long shot, things not looking good for him. I'll bet he goes to the NFL after this season.

But if I'm a Heisman voter, I don't think I can vote for him. Of course the NC game thing could be taken care of by either Alabama or So.Carolina and I think Auburn will lose one of those games.

This is a big problem with anything the NCAA does:

You (or the school) are GUILTY until you prove you are innocent...

Small change to what Scott said: "The NCAA does whatever it wants to do. "

A lot of stuff in this thread over on an LSU board re the Auburn situation. Have no clue how true or what but if half of it is true then Auburn should get hammered pretty heavy.

Indeed, if it is proven, in light of their history of repeat major infractions, I think it possible that they could be staring down the barrel of the "death penalty"!

Because of that statement it would be hard to believe that Auburn could allow any of this to happen.

If an Auburn booster paid money to Newton there is no hope for those guys.

    Holy Sh!t!

If even a fraction of that is evidenced, they are done......at least as it relates to the NCAA. Not sure why they'd get kicked out of the SEC, I would rather expect that they would be memorialized and enshrined for creative and outstanding achievement!

I know y'all think this is funny, but Alabama went through a very tough time after our little run in. We weren't memorialized. We weren't enshrined. We were ridiculed in the SEC, we suffered in recruiting, couldn't find a good coach to come in, and lost a lot of football games. It was not fun and instead of being recognized for an "outstanding achievement" it was something that we do not want to go through again and hopefully the current coaching staff and school administration is being very vigilant in their adherence to the rules. But hey it's always fun when it's not your team under the microscope. :!:

One other thing to add though is that MSU did not pay the money, they gave up the great player, and they reported the violation. I know, I know, but that's not funny. :!:
