It was almost "Upset Saturday" but not quite.

    1. Oregon vs CAL....I've said this almost every week. WTF CAL???? I mean who ever heard of the kicker being in motion!! They had Oregon beat, beat I'm telling you then the kicker goes in motion!!! In motion I tell you. He makes the kick of course but it's called back and he misses the 2nd attempt. I'm thinking cutting down the trees those hippies were living in was the bad karma that caused him to falter. Other wise CAL pulls the upset likely and wins `16-13.

    2. WAZZUUUUUUUUUUU!!!! WINNNNNNNNNNSSS!!! Might be bigger story than ND beating Utah!! Breaks 8 game losing streak, hurts the SOS of TCU, and gets them set for the Apple Cup which will be at home on the Palouse. Kes is no doubt smoking a big Cigar right now!! :)

    3. Penn State vs Ohio State....this was another game making me think "Upset Saturday" Then the Ohio State players woke up and realized that PSU was playing a Walkon and that JoePa's funerary makeup was starting to streak in the rain that they've seen this movie before....Weekend at Bernies 2 and the dead guy really is dead. So having no respect for the dead they roll the Nits in the 2nd half. Their once high profile but now forgotten QB had an excellent game and how could a RB named Boom not have a excellent game. Is Ohio State the best 1 loss team? Some think they might be.

    4. RR secures his job, no way after UM beats Purdue convincingly will RR not be back in Ann Arbor next season. UM fans drooling over the thought of Jim Harbaugh with that menacing Bo like stare on the sideline will have to keep dreaming. They won't even get the Vacant Stare of Bo disciple Les Miles. It will be RR for the foreseeable future. He has brought an excellent offense to town and will win quite a few games with it...now if he can get a defense he might be able to challenge the sweatervest clad one! :)

    5. Fighting Irish. Whether Utah was over rated or still hung over from the TCU game I don't know. But they were the salve that was needed by the team, the coaches, the fans and yours truly who had been considering that he may have just become essentially a Cubs fan! :) I have to admit I never got comfortable with the thought that we would win till about 6 min to go, I kept waiting for somebody to be Steve Bartman and snatch the sure victory from our lads. At the end when students came pouring out of the stands to celebrate with the team, I thought that a dam of emotion has been breached. So much has gone wrong for them, the Navy loss, the tragic death of Declan Sullivan, the Tulsa loss, all so negative all having us at each others throats, at the team, at the coaches. It felt really good to realize...no I am not a Cubs fan!! :)

    6. Gators...that offensive light at the end of the tunnel that MCG thought he saw, was the on comming freight train of Marcus Lattimore. I have to agree with Krebs comment that Urban Meyer looked like death warmed over on the sideline. He in no was resembled the steely eyed assassin from the Tebow years. Interesting tidbit. Without Tim Tebow Urban is 9-7 in SEC play and 15-7 over all. Gators like Texas have out recruited all but a few teams in the last 5 years, so it is very suprising for them to be in this position.

    7. SEC in general: It's offical it's Auburn vs So. Carolina in the SECCG, the big issue is whether or not Auburn can stay undefeated. On the road to 'Bama and then a rematch vs So.Car who played them to the wire at Auburn early in the year. Not to mention the whole Cam Newton affair as a sidelight. You can't make this stuff up folks!

    8. Texas...Get the rope fellas! Texas is loaded with talent and more on the way with the current top ranked class of recruits. If there are "Big Cigars" at the 40 Acres then they need to go to DeLoss Dodds (Texas AD) and demand staff changes. This is a lost team and one that is very likely not to make a bowl game this year. I know that after the last 60 something beat down by OU that Mack and DeLoss went to the mat and the DCoord was fired, but Mack kept his friend Greg Davis. But now Davis needs to go. The season is gone, but lets not take this into next year.

    9. B12 actually coming down to a very exciing ending. Neb is pretty much a lock to be the B12N champ, although I do expect them to have a tough time in Kyle Field this next weekend, and I would not be suprised to see them lose. Aggies look very good right now, as does OK. State. In fact I have to say that I like the design of the OK. State offense more than I like the Oregon offense. That inverted wishbone that they run at times is just fun! OK State, OU or A&M likely to be B12S champs with my money right now on OK State, but they have to beat OU. We could have another 3 way tie in the South as well with OU, OSU and A&M at 6-2.

    10. TCU/Boise State. TCU's close win allowed Boise State to jump them in todays human polls. I've been saying all along that for these 2 teams it's all about style points. TCU can only get back ahead of Boise if they thump somebody while Boise has a close win. Also TCU only has 1 regular season game left, against doormat New Mexico, while Boise State has 3 more games so assuming both teams crush their remaining foes it's not looking good for TCU given Boise will play 2 more games. Of course it's all a moot point unless Auburn or Oregon lose. Also I must say that if Auburn and Oregon finish undefeated and play for the NC and then Auburn/Cam Newton deal gets resolved and CAM was ineligible and Auburn forfeits its' game. It's a crying shame that either TCU or Boise be kept out of the game by a team using an ineligible player. I really wish there was some way to resolve this soon!!

    11. Big 10. I was so shocked that Iowa lost this game to Northwestern. Northwestern is a team that wore down and lost games to MSU and PSU after taking leads. So you'd think a team like Iowa would also wear them down but not to be. I would guess right now that Wisconsin would be the odds on favorite to be the B10 " Tri-Champion" with MSU and OSU.

    12. Pac10. Hard to imagine after getting by CAL, that Oregon will slip at home vs Arizona and rivalry game with Oregon State while not a gimmie OSU seems to be falteing at this point. The good news for TCU or Boise is that if Oregon goes to the BCS game that one of them will be in the Rose Bowl automatically. Rose Bowl committee will not be able to chose a replacement "Pac10" team.

    13. Heisman. I wonder how it's going to turn out. Clearly without the bad pub Cam Newton would be a shoo in....now the question is will the voters say screw it Cams the best player so I'm voting for him let the chips fall where they may if he is found ineligible later. Or will they say they don't want another Reggie Bush situation and vote in somebody else and right now I don't know who that will be. LaMichael James is one guy, but I'm not sure if he gets enough recognition to make the leap, would help if he had a couple of huge games to finish the season. Maybe pre-season leader Terrell Pryor will make a reappearance. I see that Cam Newton joined the 2000yds/passing 1000yds/rushing club a rather elite club for QB's...even Tim Tebow isn't a member. Kellen Moore is having a great season, but playing on Tues night and Friday night doesn't get him much pub or hype, and Andrew Luck also having a great season but seems overshadowed by his coach.

    Surprising indeed.

    Shocking......almost tragic perhaps.

I wonder what coaching changes we will see at Florida over the next couple of months.

BTW did anybody see the clip of the ass chewing that Saban gave A.J. McCarron yesterday? At the end of the clip, Saban smacked him in the ass with his hand!! Player Abuse?

    1. Oregon
There are no great or perfect teams this year. Don't forget the Ducks being gutted by Boise State's defense last year with the same players that the Broncos have now. Oregon has earned their position in the polls, as has Auburn; but both of them could be had by the right team in the right situation.

    2. Rich Rod
He's the Earl Bruce of Michigan. He'll win just enough to keep his job and create pain and suffering in Ann Arbor for a decade.

    3. Coach Kelly
This guy still has a lot to prove. He's no legacy. He's an Irish-Catholic Subway just like me. In the previous six months, two students connected with the program have been killed, while the team has struggled to a .500 record; blown close games against teams with less talent; gave away a game to Tulsa; and was blown out by Navy. Even in Saturday's victory, Kelly went for a first down on 4th and 3 from mid-field in the first quarter, rather than punt to pin the Utes deep. That's dumb football. That's immature coaching worse than Charlie Weis. I want to see more improvement from Mr. Kelly...a lot more.

    4. TCU
The Frogs biggest problem yesterday was the fact that they were playing an improving San Diego State. I think that sleeping giant is beginning to emerge under head coach Brady Hoke...

    5.Heisman
I think they should just cancel the award for this year before they do something stupid again...

    6. 12Pac
In most years we west coasters get to whine about how we're being cheated and usually we're right...but not this year. Because of USC's probation and special deals made by the Rose Bowl, only three 12Pac teams will go to bowls and one of them, Stanford, will probably get dumped down to a lower tier bowl...

ROTF & LMAO re Joe's make-up and the Lloyd /Mack comments.

My sense is RR's job is safe for now. Of course if Wisconsin can do a Route 83 on us as they did to the poor Hoosiers, things might change. But, Wisky has a habit of self destructing in Ann Arbor so the chances of a coach-changing rout are pretty small. I think the only scalps on Beilama's belt this year will be Brewster's and probably Lynch's.

Tressel is way too cagy to run the score up on us in Columbus as he has a vested interest in maintaining the status quo in AA.

In fairness to RR, nobody has really stopped Michigan from moving the ball this year. But, our defense is football's equivalent to the defense put up by the French again the German air and ground game in WW II although I guess using war metaphors for football is verboten these days.

Bobda......can we have McGee as an OC...? Maybe he isn't feeling too secure up there in AA.

Pat Dooley of the Gainesville Sun grading the Gators above........pretty dismal assessment that Gator Haters will enjoy reading.

    Terry,
McCarron went and completed 2 passes and got Alabama down to the 1. On the way down there after the second pass, AJ was strutting and bobbing his head and seemed to think this game is easy. The next play was a sack and the next he had so much pressure that he threw up a floater that should have been intercepted, so we had to kick a 30 yard FG. So when McCarron came off of the field, I think Saban took a "teaching moment" with the young man. Assault maybe?

I was somewhat out of pocket this weekend, long story.

    Didn't Minnesota win as well?

I seem to remember seeing a few scores and thinking this was shaping up to be a whacky Saturday

I'm curious about how Buckeye fans are taking Pryors disappearance from the Heisman talk? At the start of the year he was the front runner, but has just disappeared and not even mentioned very much any more. I don't really remember if he had a really bad game, Buckeyes only have the Wisconsin loss which you can't put on him, he had a pretty good game, Badgers just ran over your defense.

meh....no big deal. I kind of expected it after he got injured. A dual threat QB without the greatest of his gifts is gonna lose a little luster and we went to the tailback alot more for the running game...he had some fine passing games, but his highlight reel games are where he's got it all going on. The big high profile games he's been nothing spectacular but just ok.....we'll keep him, there's always next year. 8)

This is making it's way around the net. A short video of an Auburn player biting a hunk out of the Georgia players chin. YIKES!! Surely the SEC will take a look at this. Kid needs to be suspended.

Maybe the Auburn kid lost a piece of his ear earlier to a Dawg bite.

Similar to when Brandon Spikes had his eye poked and then later......as usual.....the retaliation was the only thing captured.

But seriously......that bite is sick dude.

Auburn had 2 of its D lineman kicked out. They have to sit out the first half of the Iron Bowl. If they lost because of that, there will be some justice for those cheap shots.

The 2 Auburn players suspended do not include Fairley. Fairley has developed (rightly or wrongly) a reputation for late hits and cheap shots. From my perspective, I wish this had not happened now. If Auburn loses to Alabama (a big if right now), then they will use this as the excuse. I want them at full strength and let the chips fall where they fall. :!:
