Here is a little test that will help you decide. The answer can be found by posing the following question: You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children. Suddenly, a Terrorist with a huge knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, raises the knife, and charges at you... You are carrying a Kimber 1911 cal. 45 ACP, and you are an expert shot. You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family. What do you do? THINK CAREFULLY AND THEN SCROLL DOWN: Democrat's Answer: Well, that's not enough information to answer the question! What is a Kimber 1911 cal. 45 ACP? Does the man look poor or oppressed? Is he really a terrorist? Am I guilty of profiling? Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack? Could we run away? What does my wife think? What about the kids? Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand? What does the law say about this situation? Does the pistol have appropriate safety built into it? Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children? Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me? Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me? If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me? Should I call 9-1-1? Why is this street so deserted? We need to raise taxes, have paint & weed day. Can we make this a happier, healthier street that would discourage such behavior. I need to debate this with some friends for a few days and try to come to a consensus. This is all so confusing! ............ ......... ......... ......... ......... ......... ........ ......... .. For those that don't know... Kimber is a brand like Colt, Taurus, or S&W. Kimber is known as one of the higer quality brands and is highly desireable among the knowledgable gun owners. the 1911 pistol is of the same design carried by our troops in WWII. You can get them in .45 caliber or 9mm. .45 is the most preferred. They are available in 3", 4", and 5" barrels. The longer the barrel, the more accurate. The shorter the barrel, the easier it is to conceal for states that require the gun to be hidden to be legal... like Texas. The Super Carry line is the most popular Kimber right now. I made the statement that I did above in the first reply because I was thinking of Cindy when I did. MY CHL comes up for recertification in the next 6 months. Her's will be about 2 months later. I have been admitted into the hospital several times since we received our license. I have no problem with Cindy taking point when I am down.
ACP is an acronym standing for Automatic Colt Pistol. In automatic .45 cal there is .45 ACP and .45 GAP (Glock Automatic Pistol) The GAP round is shorter than the ACP round.
I read that to Jeanne, I couldn't hardly keep from laughing while reading it and she laughed out loud. I then left for bowling and bowled a 205 in my first game!!!
This was a good distraction to a boring session of class. I am in China to teach 3 hours of a one week class and to glean information from the other parts of the class. The part this morning is something I could teach in my sleep. I hope things pick up quickly or I'll be asleep in class. It is 10:42 a.m. and I have 7 + hours left.
Bill, you need to let us know when you are bowling, so that the Skybox comedians (Terry, Gip, AJ, Bobda, etc.) can provide the kind of humor that will elevate your game.
:?: Questions: On Stu's pistol- Do those green dot sights help? Or is this strictly a self-defense weapon where you flip the safety and blast away? Question for Tom: I see that Stu's gun has an aluminum frame; does the GAP version have a plastic frame like regular Glock's? Or does Kimber make them both with aluminum frames? .........JO'Co
GAP is an ammunition type specifically for Glock pistols. I know of no other manufacturer that makes guns in .45 AGP caliber.
JO'Co, the Super Carry that Tom linked to has an aluminum frame, as does mine. You can get Kimbers with Stainless Steel frame, if so desired; http://www.kimberamerica.com/products/pistols/eclipse/
My newest "handgun"... Available in .38/.357 mag, .44 mag, and .45 Long Colt, I purchased in .38/.357 mag caliber. That is what I have the most of and what is most readily available right now.
