    Ah it's finally here, the game we've all been waiting for and anticipating since the day they were scheduled!! The Broncos of WMU!!!

    They were a good team a few years ago when they came to Houston for the Texas bowl to play Rice. That didn't turn out too well for them as the Owls beat them handily. They lost a lot from that team and were pretty bad last year, but they seem to be on the uptick this year just having beat Ball State 45-16.

    It will be interesting to see if this game is a sellout, it was to say the least controversial when WMU was added to the schedule and there have been reports of tickets being available, of ND making this parents weekend and offering 8 tickets to parents (unheard of previously).

    This game will only be successful though if the Irish win big, as was discussed in the Weekend in Review #4 topic.

    The other big news for this game is that ND will be wearing the new Adidas TechFit jersey's.

    TechFit

    I'm not clear if they are new to ND or are they completely new to Adidas College football teams?

    They must be rolling them out all across college football teams that have contracts with them this coming weekend.

    Easy now, you smug clowns. Both the wife and my late mother in law are Bronco grads and I lived in fear of both.....

    ND

    <t>After visiting the NDNation sit this morning I actually think I will swear off the site forever. I've threatened this before but I've just had it. Nothing seems to make them happy and they complain about everything!. They don't like the coach, the don't like the AD, they don't like the schedule, they don't like being the favorite or the underdog, they don't like the new uniform, they didn't like they old uniform, etc.,etc............ <br/>
    <br/>
    <br/>
    I know it's been frustrating the last few years to be an ND fan and I want things to turn around faster than anyone but realistically it's not gonna happen overnight. I'm beginning to believe if the Irish went 12-0 this year it wouldn't be good enough! They'd find something to complain about. <br/>
    <br/>
    Hell, I thought at worst we'd be 4-2 at this point but we are 3-3. They lost a couple of games they could have just as easily won but hey, they didn't. <br/>
    <br/>
    There are some things that are different and postive about this team than others we have seen in the past few years and it doesn't always show up as a win. They are mentally and physically tougher and are getting better at both. They play harder and hit harder and tackle better. <br/>
    <br/>
    Then offense is still getting this thing down and the defense is getting better but probably won't be significantly better until some of the new recruits get to SB. <br/>
    <br/>
    Believe what you want but I'm sure the comments made on NDNation are read by potential recruits and probably have contributed to the loss of some of those recruits over the past few seasons. <br/>
    <br/>
    <br/>
    Anyway....as far as WMU is concerned I looking for ND to beat the hell out of them......there, I said it and I feel good about it too! I'm sure if they do those on ND nation will complain no matter what the score.</t>

    TOK,

    Kzoo is due east of Benton Harbor, about a 45 minute drive. It is located where 131 and I 94 intersect. So it is an easy hop to SB. You would take 131 south to the toll road or 94 W to Niles Road in BH and then head south. The last 10 miles or so of 131 turns from highway to two lane road before the Indiana border. I think that is designed to make it easier for the police to monitor Michiganders engaged in cigarette smugling.

    My guess is that it is an 1/1-2 drive from Kzoo to SB. Surprised you never flew into there and stayed there rather than BH since Kzoo is a much nicer town.

    Mary was in Chicago last week for a meeting. My daughter who had been visiting drove her there. She took an Amtrak train to Kalamazoo where I met her. We stayed at a Residence Inn there Fri. and Sat. and drove down to the game from there. The drive down took longer than it should since I had to go back and get the tickets after traveling 25 miles. Took about an hour to get to campus. The plus is, it has some good restaurants and room rates are reasonable.

    I don't think I'd want to be any further than BH, just need a decent reasonably priced hotel with bed to collapse in before and after the game.

    Gawd I still can't believe we used to pay what we payed to Patel the Pirate at the Worst Western in Mishiwaka!! :)

    Actually...
    I know a little about Western Michigan, because one of my old high school teammates played there...briefly. I can't tell you his name, because he's still out there, somewhere; in fact, he's probably flying right over your head right now...

    In his first month as a football player at WMU, he caused a race riot in the cafeteria when he asked one of his teammates, "Hey boy, could you pass those potatoes over here?" Unperturbed by this inauspicious beginning, he went on to narrowly avoid being killed in a local whorehouse, when he refused to pay and the owner pulled a gun on him...

    Eventually he transferred to the University of the Pacific at the end of the year, where he sat the bench behind future Rams running back Willard Harrell,

    but with fond memories of his Michigan adventure...

    Rudolph is lost for the season. Is having season ending surgery. He has really had a time staying healthy.

    I did see that Brian Hamilton said the hamstring did become detached...I don't think he could have walked with both hamstrings detached, so I'm going with 1 that's bad enough.

    He missed a lot last year with a shoulder and had off season surgery. I guess that this means he'll definitely be back next year rather than opting for the NFL, that's the slightly tarnished silver lining I guess. NFL scouts have to be doubting his ability to with stand the stress of playing football, but then they drafted Sam Bradford and Jermaine Gresham in the 1st round after they had to sit out the 2009 season with injuries.

    <t>Tough break for Kyle. Now we know why it wasn't getting better. Hopefully he can have a full recovery and come back for his senior season.</t>
